Warm Front
Forms when warm air slowly slides over a cold air mass; produces long periods of rain and warmer temperatures
Cold Front
Forms when a cold air mass rapidly pushes a warm air mass up and out of the way; produces storms and cool temperatures
Occluded Front
When a warm air mass is completely cut off from the ground by two cooler air masses; produces long periods of rain
Stationary Front
When a cold and warm air mass collide and neither one moves; produces long periods of rain
Thunderstorm
Storm with thunder, lightning, heavy rains and strong winds; form within large cumulonimbus clouds in areas of low pressure
Hurricane
A low pressure tropical storm that forms over warm ocean water; winds form a spinning circular pattern around the center, or eye, of the storm
Tornado
A rapidly whirling, funnel-shaped cloud that extends down from a cumulonimbus cloud

Large, thick, puffy white clouds that are found at low elevations and indicate fair weather

Tall, towering cloud that often brings thunderstorms
