Six of them have been in 2016. New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Connecticut only have had one execution since 1976. Since the year of 1998 the number of executions has dropped significantly. In 1998 there were 295 and in the year 2015 there were only 49. There are five different methods of execution; lethal injection, electrocution, gas chamber, hanging, and firing squad.
