As Las Positas students we have a strong impact on how we treat our planet. Every day we go about our lives not thinking about how bad we neglect our planet, one of our most overlooked problems we contribute to is global warming. There are many ways how we can help end this tragedy, the two easiest being; lowering our carbon dioxide output and help putting an end to deforestation. Global warming is the increase of the overall temperature of earth’s atmosphere, surface, and oceans. The main problem is that our average temperature is rising and is causing many environmental and social changes. Global warming is responsible for the melting of our polar ice caps; which causes ocean levels to rise, the destruction of natural and animal life, climate …show more content…
We can accomplish this by cutting the use of fossil fuels. Carbon dioxide is responsible for more than half of the greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere followed by methane and nitrous. Burning coal and gas for energy like heat, electricity, and the fuel to run vehicles is the main source of carbon dioxide pollution. Driving alone is one of the main sources of gas pollution; to make it worse, us commuting students can travel multiple hours waiting in traffic emitting carbon dioxide in extreme levels. If more of us come together and carpool or use the bus to get to school our carbon footprint would juristically decrease. I myself recently sold my 2006 Volkswagen Jetta to purchase a 2013 Mazda 3 with a built in Skyactiv feature. What this feature does is allows my car to harness more power with less amount of fuel, this allows my car to be more efficient on gas while decreasing its carbon …show more content…
Many people over look deforestation because it has nothing to do with where we live. Deforestation is the destruction of forests in order to make more land available for other commercialized uses. Almost half of the world’s forests have been cleared and this is not sustainable. Trees are important in the fight against global warming because they remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, replacing it with oxygen. Although more than half of our forests are gone, you can help by planting trees in your backyard. One tree alone can supply a whole days’ worth of oxygen for four adults. About 3 million trees are cut down each day just to provide society with new paper products. A solution to reduce this would be simply to invest in recycled products. Recycled products are cheaper and help our environment. Reducing paper use doesn’t just stop there, switching bills too online and using electronics can make a huge impact also, this is what I personally do. With the start of each new school semester I only invest my money on recycled composition books and recycled binder paper. These products help by allowing more trees to be left untouched and are also cheaper than non-recycled

Global climate change has been defines as “a change in global or regional climate patterns, in particular a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels.” (google definition, 2015) Global warming is the increase of the Earth’s surface temperature caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, CFCs, and other pollutants. The Earth is getting warmer because people are adding heat, trapping gases to the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels, which including the coal, oil, and natural gases. Scientists have predicted that in the future, climate change would cause loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise, and more extreme…

Global warming is the belief that the earth’s temperature is rising due to various pollutants. It is an idea that has been around for centuries, dating back to early B.C. While the ideas of climate change continue to grow, so do the controversies. Years ago people thought global warming was just a theory, but the evidence is becoming harder to ignore. Even with all the information collected about climate change, it is still being dismissed by many. The withering of the environment will only lead to ruin and cause severe weather, habitat destruction, extinction, and many more problems that can’t be fixed if people don’t acknowledge it.…

Earth 's climate has been negatively influenced by many direct and indirect ways. Humans can severely damage the quality of climate. Most people are not aware that actions contribute to the decay of the Earth through time. Human activity has a great impact on global warming. Events, such as burning fossil fuels, contributes much of the carbon dioxide that is emitted into the atmosphere. Global warming effects caused by human activity affects the earth 's climate in many ways. It is melting the earth 's poles, glaciers and ice sheets which causes sea levels to rise. It is also shifting climates and precipitation patterns and is forcing animals to migrate.…

The Earth is currently facing detrimental environmental issues. These issues have been evident for decades; however, many people have continuously denied them to be problematic or even their existence entirely. While these critics have managed to get away with the rejection of these problems for many years, it is no longer deniable that the issue of environmental degradation is very real and in need of immediate action. Much of the population has come to understand this, and have executed a variety of modest attempts to increase environmental sustainability. However, these efforts have demonstrated to be of minimal effect in solving the large-scale issues directly causing the degradation.…

Global warming or climate change is the gradual increase of Earth’s temperature over time, through the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the rising carbon level in the atmosphere, trapping radiation, and heating the Earth. Humans are depending on fossil fuels that release these emissions. Though we have increasingly started depending on renewable resources that don’t release these harmful gases into the atmosphere, we can already see the effects today and if this doesn’t stop now the planet will be destroyed. The human intervention that people have depended on with the environment is destroying the Earth.…
