Case Study My case study is about a little boy and his name is Bowen. My observation of him is in the preschool setting where he attends school. He is in a class with twenty other children and has one teacher and a teacher’s aide. It is a very hands on classroom since the children in this class are younger they do more things to keep the children’s attention. They do a math paper, which is called Kumon. Kumon is a math program that starts at an early age. It helps develop both high level of academic ability and the ability to learn independently. At a preschool age, it is mainly being able to count dots. Once you achieve that goal as a student, you will start adding and then so on. They also do a color sheet or a craft that goes along with…

This semester, I observed in a preschool classroom. I have learned that patience is a virtue. All the students in my class were four years old. Considering they are at such a young age, my preschoolers need constant reminders, one after the other. Mrs. Lamplugh, their teacher, would tell them to be quiet. Not even five seconds later they are talking again. They are supposed to sit “crisscross-applesauce” on the rug. Give it a few minutes and they will be sitting on their knees or in a different…
My area set up will be based on prior observations of the preschoolers in Start room. The area plan will use outside activities to help enhance certain developmental domains. The activities are intended to meet the needs of all the children to ensure optimal development. I noticed that many of the preschoolers from Star room really enjoy playing with balls. They like to kick balls, throw balls, catch balls, etc. One day when we were playing outside and there were two tiny cotton…

The age of the children I observed were around the age three to five years old, preschool age. I arrived at 3:30 pm, and the children were all sitting in the carpet. It was around reading time. Some children had books and were sitting on the carpet, while others were sitting on a couch reading, or picking out a book from the shelf. One girl on the carpet was talking to another girl about wanting to eat chicken nuggets, and imitated eating nuggets. After the childrens read for several minutes, an…
For this observation, my main objective was how play influences social development, friendship formation and social interactions. This observation took place at the Brookhaven Head Start Center on February, 2016. In this group of preschoolers there was about an equal amount between boys and girls; to make a total of 20 preschoolers in the classroom setting. The very first thing I completed was observing them in the classroom during story time, station time and singing songs while they were…
For my observation hours, I observed at Lucy Brock. I observed in the infant/toddler room number two and the preschool room. I observed snack and breakfast in the infant/toddler and lunch in the preschool room. In the infant/toddler room, there is a child that I observed that during snack time especially the amount of food he ate varied. One day that I observed he barely touched the chips, and on another day, he ate almost all of his snack. This related to the division of responsibility because…
