The genre of this book is children’s literature and can be seen as a realistic fiction book. The age range for this book is from 4-8 years old. The author wrote and illustrated the book with a folk-art inspired painting. The book was written in 1982 and was published by Harper Collins Publishers. This book won the Caldecott Medal. The author wrote about a young girl who tells a story how her mother received s new chair.
