FIRST PERSON
William Francis Kemmler (was born May 9, 1860 – and died on August 6, 1890) and live in New York, however he was convicted murderer and the first person in the world to be legally executed using an electric chair.
Inventer
Alfred P. Southwick (born in1826– died in1898), was a steam-boat engineer, dentist and inventor from Buffalo, New York. He is credited with inventing the first electric chair as a method of legal execution.
LAST PERSON
The last time an inmate picked a method of execution other than lethal injection was when Robert Gleason Jr., a convicted murderer, was executed by Virginia in 2013. He selected the electric chair. SO he was the last person to use the electric chair.

The first prison in the United States was built in Philadelphia in 1790, when the walnut street jail added a new cell house to its existing jail and devoted the new cells to the confinement of convicted criminals.

They were made to stop people dying in the country because in the medival times people died to electric chairs and much more as now in the modern times they realised the electric chair was the wrong punishment to use.
PEELERS – everyone
- ASHWIN The Peelers were created by Sir Robert Peel. The first thousands of Peel’s police, dressed in blue tail-coats and top hats, began to patrol the streets of London on 29th September 1829. The uniform was carefully selected to make the ‘Peelers’ look more like ordinary citizens, rather than a red-coated soldier with a helmet. But then the outfit of the peelers started to change and you can see their most recent outfit in our exhibit.
