Teslacrypt (a.k.a. EccKrypt ) is a malicious program that encrypts users ' files without the knowledge or consent of the user. It falls into the sub-category of ransomware, a type of malware that encrypts the user 's files using AES encryption and forces them to pay a certain amount of money to decrypt the user 's information, essentially holding a person 's data as hostage. However, non-gamers are also at risk, Teslacrypt can infect other file types as well, including Adobe Flash, Adobe Reader and Java. Most infections happen in the larger, more developed countries. A user is typically infected by this ransomware when they visit a hacked website infected with an Angler exploit kit. Usually the developers of the malicious program will install this exploit kit on the infected site, and once an unprotected user visits it, the exploit kit will begin scanning their system searching for outdated and unprotected programs. Once successfully exploited, the kit will download…
