Moreover, Lorne Avenue Public School’s closing is significant to the community as it a central location not only for students but for a wide array of community groups; thus, diminishing the community activity in London’s Old East Village. Why a Multimedia Treatment? This story deserves a multimedia treatment because of the vast array of people Lorne Avenue Public School has affected throughout its many years in operation. In addition to teaching students for 141 years, there as been an ongoing debate between the parent council of Lorne Avenue, the city of London, and the TVDSB. However, despite the parent council and the community’s effort, Lorne Avenue Public School will be closed, and it deserves a dedicated send off as a thank you from the people in Old East Village. By implementing a multimedia treatment to this story, we can effectively tell the long history of Lorne Avenue through various photos and an interactive timeline. As such, through video, readers can be introduced to some of the many people Lorne Avenue has influenced throughout the year. Finally, a multimedia treatment will be able to represent the underlying societal issue of school closures in Ontario via interactive maps, statistics, and graphs.
