My observations were in the kindergarten classrooms at Mount Lion Elementary. During my time there I rotated to the kindergarten classes throughout the day. I recently began my observation experience in the fifth grade classroom of Nina Sorey, at the campus of Huntington Intermediate School. I am very fortunate to have observed under Mrs.Sorey, as I was already very comfortable around her. Mrs.Sorey, overall, was a fabulous mentor for me. On Monday, during the third period, I observed a read-aloud lesson. After the teacher wrote the title of the book, she called the students over to the meeting area. Prior to the read aloud, the teacher set strict expectations for the students. For instance, the teacher advised the students that they had to remain seated “Criss-Crossed Applesauce” and raised their hands if they had a question or a comment about the reading.
