It was day 9 of the 12-day cruise. Sitting with my family at the dinner table, I interrupted the conversation and asked if I could be excused so I could go see some friends that I had met on our cruise. I got the go ahead and the time I had to be back in the cabin that night. Normally my curfew is 12am, but that night in particular I thought I could stretch it a bit because we had no obligations for the next morning. I went back to the room, changed, grabbed my phone then went out. The usual meeting spot was the card room, specifically on deck 10 aft. Fortunately, I had met up with everyone right on time. After having causal awkward conversation for the past few hours, we all thought it was time to relocate and do something more entertaining. We were all aimlessly walking around until we stumbled into this offset room that was set up as a small conference room. As time progressed, the group of was significantly smaller. I figured this was probably the right time to check in with my parents. I picked up the nearest phone and checked the time; it read 12:37AM. I dialed my cabin number and twirled the phone cord. The phone kept ringing and ringing “You’ve gotta be kidding me, no answer” I said to myself. I hung the phone back on the wall and sat back down in the circle with my friends. At this time of night I figured my dad was just sitting at the casino getting drunk off Jack and Coke while my mom played the penny slots. One of the kids I was sitting with spotted a huge…

It was one number I had never deleted out of my phone, mostly because I had waited for years for Stormy to call. Her mom answered on the second ring, “Drew?” “Mrs. Waters.” I answered. “I assume you’re calling about Stormy?” “Yes ma’am. We know that Cole has her.” “Yes…he does.” She replied, cooly. “You already knew that?” I asked in confusion. She laughed a psychotic laugh, “Of course we know, he’s good for her.” Rhett stared at the phone, a mixture of disgust, anger, and shock across his…

The picture that I chose is on the terrible tragedy of death while driving. There are hundred ways that you can die while behind the wheel, but I believe there is one specific way that is easily the worst way; while on the cell phone. There are many deaths that cannot be controlled while behind the wheel, but if your death is due to lack of attention to the road that is easily the worst way of death. This picture shows that talking on the phone while driving causes of your own death. This…

"What happened Joe? Rachel asks as Joe steps off the elevator. "The states attorney had a valid explanation for everything I showed him." "You kind of figured Allen would smoke screen his boss, right?" "I suppose. Did you lose your phone yesterday?" "No, why?" "The janitor stopped me in the hallway and asked if you got your phone back. He said that DA asked if he'd found a phone so he gave it to him." "Maybe it was Julia's phone he found." "Yeah, maybe. Can I borrow your phone a minute?" "Sure,"…

It’s late at night; I received a phone call saying it was blocked. I answered the phone call, noticing that I'm home alone, after a long nap. I said “This dude is a loser always prank calling random people.” The person with a deep voice said “he was in front of my house” and it was a rainy day. He was a tall man with an object in his hand looking like a knife, so I started panicking. I called my brother but he was at the movies with his friends. The man started knocking on the door, but when I…

Ring! Ring! This is the phone call that you have been waiting for almost a week. You answer the phone so hesitantly “Hello?” the voice on the other line responds “Hello ma’am, we have gotten the results for Jimmy’s blood test. Can you come into the office so we can talk over the results?” in that moment you feel like your whole world is crashing down. You know that if the results were negative that they would have told you over the phone, so that means your worst fear is no longer a fear. It’s a…

He is exhausted but answers anyway. “Hello?” Jaxson answers. “Hi there,” it’s his firm partner, “I have a job for you.” “What now Thomas?” replied Jaxson Jaxson starts to doze off as Thomas begins to describe the job, but wakes up as soon as he hears about the location of the job. “What?” Jaxson responds excitedly. “Thats right,” Thomas sounds more excited than Jaxson, “And you get to ride a cruise to get there!” “Really, I’ve…

“Do I have to speak in front of everyone?” he asked. The buzz from my phone forced open my heavy eyelids. My body struggled for warmth as the frigid winter air cooled my bed. The message was from my friend of many years. He was anxiously preparing for our Class Council meeting which would be in two hours. “You can do this,” I managed to type back, despite blurry vision and extreme exhaustion. “I believe in you and what you have done. Be confident. They are going to love you.” A few weeks…

“Hello,” a young woman asked desperately. “Is this Oz Matthews?” “Yes, it is,” a man remarked. “How may I help you?” The woman said deliberately, “I need to report a crime.” “What is your name?” Oz Matthews asked vigorously. “Mrs. Smith,” the woman said. “There was a shooting at the concert in Central Park. Over thirty people are dead and a multitude are wounded. “I’ll look into it. Thanks for calling,” Oz Matthews said conclusively. He quickly hung up the phone. “Another mystery to…
