“R”Rovers are an important part of our lives. They allow us to see beyond our earth. We made our rovers to help us understand the scientific process and how to create an experiment. Making this rover also refreshed our memory of the concept of elastic energy. Not to rub it in your face, but EarthToy Designs enlisted in our help to design this rover, too. They asked us to make a rover that can be adjusted to go different distances. Of course, we have to think about the environment while making toys, so they asked us to make rovers out of 100% recycled materials. We decided to make the weight in the ballast the independent variable, or what we would change. We wanted to see how many weights could make the rover move the farthest, so after creating our rover, we predicted “If nine washers are put into the ballast in the rover, then it will travel 4.5 meter.” “E” In this experiment, we wanted to see how the amount of weights in the ballast affected how far the rover went. To perform an experiment, you have to follow a procedure. If you would like to perform our experiment, keep reading and follow the procedure. After assembling the rover, place five…

There are so many things that are wished for when retiring in their homeland, but when thinking…

bright in color they almost dazzled Dorothy’s eyes” (111). As you can see, Baum does not describe the poppies as magical but rather just poppies that we would see in our world. The illustrations also help support this, showing them as simple flowers rather then something magical. This can also be shown in the cyclone that takes Dorothy to OZ. At the beginning of the book, Baum describes the cyclone as “ very dark, and the wind howled horribly…” (17). The terms he uses are not things that are…

instead of a pointy hat doesn’t mean she’s not the baddest b**** this side of the Emerald City” (30). Just because Dorothy, the antagonist of the novel, was portrayed as a sweet girl who couldn’t hurt a fly on the big screen didn’t mean that she wasn’t capable of being evil. Also, this theme was evident when Paige wrote, “No matter how tough you think you are, there are certain things that just get to you, and they’re usually the little things. The ones you don’t expect” (234). Her whole life,…
