believe human behavior is making a threat on the environment. The reason why states have environmental agreements also seems to be a reoccurring theme in the reading. This reading also discussed the idea of soft and hard law. This is not the first time reading about soft and hard law so every time I read something new about it, my knowledge on the topic grows. The evidence from the reading shows how hard agreements makes shrinking difficult which is key in ensuring compliance. The second reading for this week was chapter 15 in the Cali textbook. This chapter focused on world trade. Basically, the focus was on the WTO treaty system. This system deals with the rules of trade between different nations. International law has made a way for good and services to be traded throughout the different nations. The first thing I want to talk about is the example the author used in the beginning of the chapter on cars. I believe this is a great example in explaining trade treaties. From the example, there is a list of actions one of the countries could take to protect from imports. Under customary international law, every state has the right to restrict trade with other countries and not accept goods and services (Cali, 333). Just because you go into trade does not mean you do not have a way out. When dealing with trade there are a few treaties. One of the treaties is a bilateral trade treaty. This is a treaty that happens between two countries. Another trade treaty is a regional trade…
Promotion and protection of foreign investments is accomplished through equal treatment of the investors of each state involved. It is common for a bilateral investment treaty to include the most-favored-nation clause which entitles the investors from different states to the same treatment as most-favored nation is granted. However, since there is no standard formulation of the clause, its scope and application remain questionable. The issue is whether the most-favored-nation clause can be…
Age circulation assumes likewise an essential part: as it was talked about before, Coca-Cola for the most part focuses on the youthful era. So a nation with a youthful populace would be a more fascinating business sector for the organization than a nation ruled by an elderly era. Salary dispersion and profession states of mind are different elements that impact Coca-Cola 's choice making procedures. Besides, Coca-Cola is a notable American item: so in a few nations the business volume relies on…
This along with the latter factor have been especially important in light of the recent recession in developed nations which has driven the need for lower production costs. Market Access: As a result of the ATC, a more free trade inclined policy, Bangladesh has the advantage of duty free, quota free market access which is favoured by the international consumers for the lack of regulation and lower costs. As well, as a labour intensive nation, they have a comparative advantage over their…
The British Empire is recognised as the first ‘free trade nation’; trade liberalisation was specifically promoted since 1815 (Trentmann, 2008: 5). Specifically, the repeal of the Corn Laws in 1846 and the Navigation Act in 1849 ushered ‘laissez-faire’ system, since the industrial policy aimed to be the ‘workshop of the world’, which provided manufacturing goods produced in efficient and cheaper ways, so those laws were obstacle to expanding markets (Lacher and Germann, 2012: 103; Semmel, 1970:…
Much credit must be afforded to the people of the’five’ Celtic nations, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Brittany and the Isle of Man (perhaps we should also include Cornwall). Over time the people of these nations have managed to carve out their own individual Celtic regional identities and remain fiercely proud of their heritage to this day. Over time each of these areas have employed local traditions to carve out distinctive regional identities which have distinguished themselves from their English…
Laws in Australia are often created to protect the country from perceived threats from outside of the nation. Australia as a nation has significantly grown in population, allies and fears. Australia’s population growth is mainly due to immigration after the Second World War affecting contemporary Australia. The nation was also able to build itself an image in the international community when Australia was able to have a say in its foreign policies and allies. With a growing population and…
From 1941 to 1979, the Iranian oil nation was lead by Shah Reza Pahlavi. In Persian, the old Iranian language, Shah means king. The Shah’s full name was Mohammed Reza Pahlavi. The oil in Iran was very valuable, and the Shah used this ingredient to start to prepare his dish. When Reza Pahlavi became the chef, he started to trade his ingredients with America. He was able to make a large amount of money and support his staff. In the 1940’s, his restaurant was up and running, he allowed women to…
-Ralph Bunche This quotation could be applied to the Congo and Tanzania after independence; and specifically to Patrice Lumumba and Julius Nyerere, who both had noble ideals and goals and stood up for them. Despite their intentions; it did not work exactly as they wanted, and the Congo was used as a pawn in the Cold War while African Socialism in Tanzania deteriorated. When the Congo gained independence in 1960, the MNC (Mouvement National Congolais) won the most seats, though no party won an…
Historically, kings were solely responsible for the well-being of their kingdoms. Although they had a court with whom they consort on occasion, the king held the ultimate power and little could be done or said to question his authority. Most nations that were formerly ruled by kings, however, now have some sort of constitution in place that prescribes a more democratic approach to government. The role of royals, in such cases, is now more to serve as the face of their kingdoms. The royalty…
