1. How do you keep track of your homework tasks? (Please describe your strategy in detail) I keep mental notes of all set homework tasks and school assignments in a priority tier. This means I prioritize remembering summative assignments and do usually forget about set homework assignments. I keep track of summative assignments by checking SEQTA and placing deadline dates in an iCloud calendar. Set homework assignments are usually not worried about over the week but I am aware that I do have them most of the time. Because I do forget about formative homework, I usually end up cramming it all within a short amount of time and not learning much from the work I’m doing. I don’t think this system is very effective as this usually puts on a lot of stress on myself and I don’t always end up getting the overall grade I could achieve. In future years with a larger workload and more things to ‘remember’ I think that there is higher chance of me forgetting assignments and missing deadlines. 2. When and how has this system failed you? (Please describe how often this has occurred and what happened when it did. For example, did you forget deadlines or not allow yourself enough time to produce your best work?). My memory is quite good so I don’t usually forget about assignments, but I sometimes forget about when to hand them in. This has only happened 2 – 3 times over the past 2 years. One instance where this happened was a summative history assignment that was due at midday the day…
There’s a student acrostic poem that I have heard in the past for the word school; “Seven Crappy Hours of Our Lives.” It’s not a very appropriate saying, but I can comprehend the feelings of its creator. Imagine school felt long enough only to get another hour and a half added. I believe the way classes are distributed is reasonable, so how would adding another hour function? A longer school day would just mean complicated compromises and sacrifices would have to be made, students who dislike…
After I graduated high school a few years ago, I attended the University of Alabama for a short time before I decided that I did not want to be in school at the moment, and would rather work until I was ready to go back to school. Being in the small town of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was a culture shock to me being that I was born and raised in the suburbs of Washington D.C., and then moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where I always had plenty of activities to choose from. Coming to Union College…
I’ve have been putting off writing this introduction for awhile now and tonight I had great intentions of sitting down to finally write it. Instead, I have found myself sucked into Ace of Cakes because I had no idea where to start. Procrastination is like a contagious disease that many students fall victim to. When school work starts to pile up and school becomes increasingly more stressful students tend to resort to other activities to avoid their responsibilities. Many students struggle with…
A1: Postive Social Interaction: I have come to the conclusion that the Mr. Collet’s homework policy is the most rewarding and beneficial policy out of those listed. This is a very similar approach I feel I will take when I begin to teach. In a classroom setting, it is very important to have a positive and engaging social interaction between the student and the teacher. Mr. Colett verbally explains his homework policy to all students at the beginning of the school year. Homework policies are…
The main point of this paper was to analyze and convey what adolescents are doing with their time and what it means for how and in what way they are developing in that time. Reed Larson, the author of the paper brings up how over the years young people have started to do less and less labor work at a young age, slowly receding to more of an emphasis on school work and supplemental discretionary time. Time doing chores have lowered as more kids start becoming more distracted in other time takers…
Support and encouragement at home contribute to the success a child achieves in school without regard to his parents’ level of education. Parents want a better life for their children and education is a big factor in improving quality of life. In Disliking Books by Gerald Graff, PhD the author illustrated his aversion to books as a student and how finally he learned to love literature through his fascination with critics ' debates and controversy. Graff felt that his initial delay in reading…
"Why do I even procrastinate?" I ask myself this question everyday. This is a problem in my everyday life. In fact, it 's a problem in most people 's lives. In my life i have heard many elderly folks comment "Those kids are so lazy, they procrastinate all the time" This comment is not only arrogant but it 's also false. People don 't realize that many teens hold a stable job while being a full time student. There are just some of us that don 't feel the need to do homework right when we are…
Suffragette coursework write-up In this essay I will be talking about three different representations and their accuracy, balance and completeness. They are as followed. Representation one is an A level textbook that has the suffrage movement written from 1832-1931. The book was written by Bob Whitfield. The text is relevantly accurate. Some of the points that the author makes are incorrect. For example the source suggests that “The National League for Opposing Woman Suffrage was founded in…
In this paper I will give a brief overview of a) the community which I will study as part of my coursework for ‘Digital Ethnography“, b) the reasons why I chose this particular community as object of study, c) the boundaries of my research project, and d) the types of qualitative evidence I will hopefully be able to collect. The Community The community I will study as part of my coursework is a group of German Lego fans of various ages who have made it their hobby not only to build, create,…
