by the Los Angeles Lakers, but the second game was won by the Bulls in a blowout game. The remainder of the games were won by the Chicago Bulls, the Bulls took the Series 4-1 winning their first NBA Championship. Kobe Bryant won his first championship in the new millennium! Which is kinda cool because I usually think that the start of the new millennium deserves a new star, and that’s what the NBA was given when Kobe entered the league. In the 2000 NBA Finals, the Los Angeles Lakers were fitted against the Indiana Pacers in a to four series just like the 1991 Finals. The Los Angeles Lakers were the first seed in the Western Conference at the time, same goes with the Indiana Pacers but in the Eastern Conference. The Los Angeles Lakers were on a roll in that series coming out to a two and zero lead before losing their first game to the Indiana Pacers on the Pacers’ home court. The fourth game was still in Indiana but the Lakers won this time, but right after that the Pacers won once again. The sixth game in the series could be the final game for the series and the Lakers could win it all, and so they did, sealing their name in the books as champions. Michael Jordan went on to win five more championships before retiring and living it up with all of his endorsements and fame. Kobe Bryant went on to win four more championships, giving him a ring for every single finger on one hand, 2016 is Kobe’s final year in basketball and we’re going to miss him. Kobe Bryant has been compared…

In my last article, we discussed some sleeper point guards for the 2015-16 NBA season, so now it’s time to look at the shooting guard position. Shooting guards are the most difficult players for me to project in fantasy basketball. It’s so hard during the preseason to get a firm grasp on who will be starting and who’s minutes may see a decrease this season. I do in fact have some great sleeper options, though. From Monta Ellis to Zach LaVine, there are are plethora of talented guys to anchor…

In Alvin Mitchel’s research “Determinants of Safety in Urban and Suburban Areas”, it was found that one’s perception of safety outweighs the reality. This is because crime is emotional and often time’s emotion outweighs other aspects (Mitchel 2004, pg 98-111). Because of this perception of crime, one does not often put his or herself in a position where he or she would be affected by crime. Hamilton County, Indiana in 2010 has a crime rate of 48.15 while Marion County in 2010 has a crime rate…

At one point in time, there were roughly 400 to 500 covered bridges in the state of Indiana. Beginning in 1835, Henry County contained the first covered bridge in Indiana history. In 1937, Indiana was home to 202 covered bridges; Dearborn County had two. By 1998, there was only one covered bridge in Dearborn County, and it is known as Guilford Covered Bridge (Covered Bridges in Indiana). Guilford Covered Bridge was built in 1879 by A.M. “You’d make a great RA one-day Grant.” Stated my favorite teacher in high school. Because I really did not know the requirements and duties of a resident assistant, I started to look into it and realized that my personality really did fit with this job. In my opinion though, being a resident assistant would not even be seen as a job because I would enjoy it very much. During the end of September, I approached my resident assistant with all of my questions about trying to get this position. She…

Our criminal justice class took a trip to the Huntington and Wabash county jail this week. I was very excited to go on these trips since I had never actually got the opportunity to go into the main parts of the jail before. I was intrigued to learn more information about the jails and how they operate. To my surprise, there were many differences and similarities between the two jails. The Huntington County jail (HCJ) is located in downtown Huntington, catty corner from the court house. Having…
