I’m writing about the difference between Wabash County Jail and Huntington County jail and how they compare and contrast each other. I will be telling how much inmates are held in each cell and how many the cells can hold. I will also be telling you how they feed all the inmates and how they control all the inmates. I want to talk about the electrical locked doors and how everything can be control in the control room. So first I will be telling you how I feel about these two jails and how they could be change into some better jail and what they can do to fix it. I saw that the Wabash and Huntington count jails both are over populated and can be fixed by building a new jail. I saw that WCJ and HCJ both have problems that need to be fixed or …show more content…
HCJ has a problem with their inmate’s not having them on control like there rec room the sheriff didn’t let us see a lot of the jail because of the inmate’s behaver. HCJ could focus on their inmates more and make there jail bigger like the one officer said that they might build on by taking the parking lot out and just building on there and moving the parking lot across the street to the rail road. And WCJ and HCJ both have a computer control room that unlocks everything and that keeps the officers safe because some of the bad convicts might try something I agree with the air locking …show more content…
WCJ has a very small holding capacity and HCJ has a larger holding capacity but you also have to think that WCJ was built in 1979 and HCJ 1984 so at those time periods you might think that they would build on to the jail so later in the future that they could hold more inmates. I know that WCJ and HCJ both have a Rec room but Wabash uses there rec room if there jail is over populated or they just need to put some other convicts in a other room in case and HCJ use their Rec room what it should be used for I know that the officer that gave us the tour of the jail said that they can hold a lot of inmate in there REC room but I didn’t see how much it could hold because the Officer that gave the tour didn’t want us going past the Rec. WCJ let us all around the jail and let us see some convicts and how they acted and see some of the cells like the drunk tank, and the RUBBER room. That is really all I have to say.
So I have told you about my thoughts about these two jails and how they could be different from each other. I told you how they could change the WCJ AND HCJ just by putting better thought’s in before buying stuff that they don’t need. WCJ and HCJ just need a bigger jail and HCJ just needs to get control with their inmate’s it is really

The Heartland Criminal Justice class travelled to the Wabash County Jail [WCJ] and the Huntington County Jail [HCJ]. Both jails are equally as important, but there are many similarities and differences between the two jails. A few of the differences included how many inmates each jail could hold, the garage sizes and uses, and the jobs that the trustees were given. An important similarity to note about both jails was the fact that both were overpopulated. However, one was overpopulated by a few, while the other was overpopulated by a lot.…

The Wabash County Jail can hold 74 inmates and is currently holding 84 and 36 of our inmates is over at Miami County Jail and we are currently paying them 35 dollars for each inmate. Miami County Jail can hold 240 inmates and is currently housing 115 inmates the reason for it is that Miami County Jail is newer while the Wabash County Jail is older. While my class and I visiting both jails I notice that the Wabash County Jail was too small to house their inmates and that’s why they sent them to Miami County Jail because of how big Miami’s Jail was. If Miami County Jail combines with Wabash County Jail then there would be more workers for both facilities then there would not be an over crowed…

Fort Bend County only has one county jail holding up to 1,500 inmates a day before they are transported to state prison or a long-term facility. (Detention Division) Both of these facilities are those that can encounter an environmental hazard at any time. Whereas Anne Arundel’s are more for long-term stay, Fort Bend has the issue of it not being a long-term facility. Even though, these jails and prisons only make up a small percentage of the population, they hold criminals who would not mix well with the general population.…

Even though supermax prisons may provide logistical support for placement of violent offenders, increasing segregation at a normal facility level as well as staff training could enhance normal prisons in the housing of problematic offenders. The most insightful observation made by Mears is that there is no standardized tool to effectively assess inmates thereby the random placement of offenders into supermax does not adequately house any particular offender. Mears provides a cautionary example when he provides that Pelican Bay a supermax prison in California lost a federal lawsuit for excessive use of…

Imagine being enslaved for four hundred years, imagine gaining freedom, then imagine that freedom being stripped from you by our legal system. Ladies and Gentlemen I am here to talk about, inform, and propose what we shall do as a community to eliminate the criminal injustice we witness inside of our prison system everyday. The day slavery was terminated in 1863, when the Emancipation Proclamation was enacted and slavery ended, white men yet again found another systematic way to extort free labor out of African American men. The Thirteenth Amendment justified this which states, “Neither nor involuntary servitude, except as punishment for crime.”…

We need to change Alabama’s jail system for the safety of the inmates, and make it an opportunity for them to learn to become better people. At the same time, we should protect our officers inside the jail cell. In some cases, in Alabama, the officers have not been protected. Throughout the years of Alabama, the prisons have not improved enough. I just graduated from the University of Alabama Law School, and am now working for the Rose Law Firm.…

Hi I enjoyed reading your post and agree recidivism is a major problem prison system could easily rename themselves the “school for creative crimes and repeat offenders” in that they often place petty opportunistic criminals with harden career criminals which allows them collaborate and learn how to commit high-level crimes from a criminal element that they often would not have had access to on the streets. Consequently, we have laws that prohibit the aiding and abetting of criminal activity, even though the prison's involvement in educating and improving the criminals skill does not contain all the necessary elements to argue the charge. I would also put a complete stop to all private jails and prisons until a plan for a successful rehabilitation…

Pressing for Prison Reform The prison system is just as corrupt as the prisoners inside them. We live in a world where it is deemed acceptable to punish a criminal by taking away their humanity, and only release them when they find it themselves. We must reform the flawed prison system; only then can we correct the criminal way of life. Today, it is not uncommon to hear intrusive and abhorrent events that happen behind bars, including excessive violence, sexual harassment, health violations, and misconduct of legal power.…

Prisoners may face misconduct and possible effects on prison management, psychological consequences, an effect on the jail population dynamics, as well as high rates of prison violence among inmates and staff. In order to help improve the overcrowding of prisons a development of a “10-point plan to reduce prison overcrowding” (Penal Reform International) was constructed. The plan was constructed in order to help provide direction to policy-makers on how they can address this situation and ease its harmful consequences. The steps include 1.…
