Social media has impacted my life in numerous ways. I can and do use a variety of social media apps that are easily accessible on my mobile smart phone, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, and WhatsApp. These applications allow me to do many activities in my daily life that would be much harder or impossible to accomplish without them. Specifically, social media has impacted my social life and my life as a college student.
It has impacted my social life by showing me the daily lives of my friends, family members, and favorite celebrities. In reverse, it keeps my friends and family members updated about my own life. It also helps me stay in contact with others in creative and inexpensive ways.

Applications such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Snapchat have benefited me in one way or another. In my social life, Facebook and Instagram allow me to see moments from the lives of celebrities, friends, and family members, and also let them see moments from my daily life. Snapchat and WhatsApp allow me to communicate with friends through pictures and overseas, without international fees or cellular towers. In my college life, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter keep me informed on upcoming sporting events, prize giveaways, musical performances, magic shows, campus parties, craft makings, and much more around Ball State’s campus. LinkedIn allows me to gain business connections and showcase my college resume to potential employers for jobs and internships. Even though all of these applications benefit me in one way or another, they also make me think twice before posting a picture, video, or comment. What can be viewed as positive to my friends, can be viewed as negative to company bosses and managers in hiring applicants or firing employees.
