I chose to analyze the The Family - 1941 portray for this essay because I like the usage of the colors on this work. I feel confident analyzing colors in artworks because I learned about the emotions transmitted through colors in various art classes that I took in High School and College. Black and white pictures can also show emotions through the lack of colors. The portray The Family - 1941 have a very interesting usage of colors and other elements. Some art works, like this portray, can express more emotions than words ever could. Romare Bearden was influenced by his own life on this work. Bearden comes from an African-American family that lived in Harlem, New York. This portray shows a family of African-Americans that possibly lived a life without luxuries and happiness. Looking at the picture we can see that their body language is very distant. There is no love between the man and his family. They look unhappy and tired. The motion that the husband is doing, the hand up in the air, is giving the idea that he is telling his wife to be quiet. Looking at the mother we can see that she has affection for her child because she is holding him and keeping him close to…

The first thing in the morning is to prepare an outfit for the day. Generally when I am getting dressed I think about the weather, what classes I have to attend, and how I am feeling in general. If I am a bit down and just want to be left alone, I will wear black so I don’t stick out, but I still look like I tried to get dressed and look presentable. If I am in a good, happy mood, then I will go with a lighter color such as blue or orange. When getting dressed in the morning, have you ever…
