In my ethnographic trip I headed to a Non-Denomination Hispanic Christian Church. They hold services every weekend so I specifically chose Sunday night to hear their message. I chose this church because I have a grandmother who attends here and I felt comfortable to have someone I knew guide me. My initial thoughts prior to visiting this church was the same as the other churches I had visited before. I expected to walk in and sit down with no one really paying much attention to me. I was also prepared to be looked upon as less than the regular visiting church members. I also was very nervous because I am not very religious and did not want to be condemned by them. When we entered the parking lot of the church I noticed that their were well dressed servers, watching the parked cars making sure that nothing happened to them. When I stepped out of the car I was immediately welcomed by the nearest man. He smiled and shook my hand giving me a sense of acceptance and made me feel welcomed which took a lot of the stress. When he shook and smiled at me I sensed sincerity and honesty the way he shook my hand. As I walked to the front of the church I was met by gentlemen and women at the doorway. All of whom greeted me, smiled and said, “ Dios le bendiga” which translates to God bless you in English. The instant greeting I received made me feel at ease and made me feel less as a stranger. As I came inside the main entrance I noticed the church was very large and well maintained. I was…

Procrastination had tended to be a large portion of my days there, and my choices were not always the best or correct ones to make. Recently, I have come to realize that how you spend your “free time” often reflects your true priorities in life. And if that “free time” is spent poorly, then one tends to develop bad habits, especially with regards to time management. The opposite is also true however, if one spends their “free time” wisely then good tendencies start to form. Professor Davis seems…

Our lesson this week starts off with a discussion about a very bad habit we have of not being thankful for the magnificent gift of salvation that we have received from Jesus Christ. If we ever stop and think about being so ungrateful for the great gift of salvation that Jesus made available to us we can review a biblical account that will make us stop and think that we aren’t the only ones who have failed to thank Jesus for some wonderful gift he gave them. Jesus gave ten men that He encountered…

Energized by a fervent sense of mission, Christians for centuries have worked for social and economic justice throughout the world. For example, in the Twentieth Century, Christians rigorously fought for a more egalitarian society, and in the 18th Century an evangelical revival released the energy of Newton and Wilberforce to subdue the English slave trade. In response to God 's call to create a better world, Christians have always worked for social reform. But the impetus for social change now…

Spiritual maturity is something that begins when someone accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and is learning how to walk in obedience to God. It is making the choice to live by God’s viewpoint rather than your own viewpoint. Like it says in Galatians 5:16 that “I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.” Once that person becomes saved then they should want to grow in the ways of the Lord, and strive for maturity or perfection. It says in 2 Peter…
