Last semester I got so caught up in what was right in front of me that I forgot to plan ahead. This semester I will keep the big picture in mind. I will reduce stress by reviewing the day’s material after class that day and then reviewing all my courses again that weekend. Starting two weeks before a test I will dedicate an extra thirty minutes a day to studying for that course. The weekend before the exam I will talk through the material with a classmate and study what I have found to be troublesome. Although I know I will have to make adjustments to my plan as the semester goes on, I am hopeful that the plans I have in place will prove helpful and more manageable than that of last semester. As bumps in the roads come up, as I am sure they will, talking to professors and classmates to gain advice and clarity will be of the utmost support. As stressful as school is, I love what I am learning along with the people I am learning from and…

Ever since my second day at my school placement, one particular student (whom I will refer to as X) in Ms. I’s second period class has never failed to catch my attention. Each week, I never know what to expect from X: some days he is a model student, working diligently on the task on hand, but on others he acts out and refuses to comply with Ms. I’s requests. However, sometimes there aren’t even good or bad days, for X’s behavior can vary so drastically within a one-hour class period. On good…

Something was wrong, and Xavier knew. Whatever they say, he could deny of course. His footsteps were the only sound as he trudged through the hallways. “Mr Walker, this is a very serious offence you have been accused of,” Principal Williams stated. The words sent a shiver of fear through his body. His classmates, Amanda, Charles and Mindy, sat in the corner and stared, disgusted looks coated their faces. “Now we have three students with complaints of cyber bullying, and proof that the messages…

    A. Room set-up Criterion 1: “Democratic schools value collaboration and cooperation rather than competition”. (Pugach, 2009, p. 309) Discussion: Mrs. C does not meet this criterion since, although the desks in her classroom are arranged into pairs, some students sit alone. While every other student is sitting down next to a classmate they can interact and collaborate with, there are three students who sit by themselves. One student is not separated completely from the rest, but he does not have…

The classmate conversation with Urji was started by casually walking together to Coffman after class. It was somewhat vague and a little tense to begin with, but after a few minutes of getting to know each other, time seemed to fly as I began to know who the real Urji was. For almost an hour, we sat at a table in the Marketplace in Coffman; I really enjoyed the conversation because it brought good insight from someone who I did not know very well. One story that really resonated with me was…

My classmate presentation was about nutrition and physical activity. She based her presentation on the California State Health Standard for 9th grade standard 1: Essential concepts. My classmate presentation was very informative and concise. Her slides had enough information for the reader to learn from the presentation. I believe the PowerPoint presentation was effective in promoting health because it provided the definition of what nutrition is. On one of the slides, it talked about the US…
