By taking this course I am hoping that I’ll be able to boost my confidence when it comes to public speaking. I have had to complete many presentation in the past but I have yet to master the ability to present well in front of large groups. The first project that we were assigned in my communication class was to get to know our classmate then we had to decide how we wanted to present each other to the rest of the class. Being assigned this introduction presentation allowed me to get to know quite a bit about the person I was partnered with me as well as allowed me to recognize my strengths and weaknesses when it comes to presenting information to a group of people. …show more content…
Our discussions in our communication course also outlined what the expectations are for being a good leader which guided my partner and I through my first presentation. I’ve noticed that I don’t have trouble organizing my presentation and that I can memorize information fairly easily but I have also recognized my weaknesses when it comes to presenting. Some of my weaknesses are is projecting my voice as well as stuttering. I have most of the information that I’m presenting memorized, but I just have trouble when it comes to standing up in front of my peers and explain it to them. I believe that I could improve on my weaknesses just by presenting a lot more and practicing what I am going to say the night before so I don’t stutter as much. This present did not only reveal my weaknesses but it also taught me about what it’s like to be a part of a dyad and what it takes to be successful as a

I have learned to open up to people and be comfortable enough to talk about things I care about. Some of the people in my audience throughout this class were people I needed to grab last minute that I never really socialized with never mind presented a speech in front of. I am also comfortable with starting conversation and getting to know people even if it’s our first interaction with each other. Opening up and starting conversation has drastically improved my interpersonal communication skills, but there are things I still need to work on as well. Like I stated earlier, my body language and emotion doesn’t always compliment what I am actually trying to express.…

I want people to like me and I care about what others think. I try not to, and I know this is not how I want to go through life, but at the moment acceptance is important for me. Someday, I want to be so far from my current comfort zone, that I will look back and know that I have become a new and better person. I believe that I had an influence on the outcome of the night. The few facts I did know were enough to have people questioning their stance on the issue, and I made sure to personalize each conversation I had.…

This was my first time helping a student with a concept-based question as a peer mentor. Surprisingly, I was very nervous even though I have helped my friends with concept-based questions in their courses all the time. My nerves probably stemmed from the expectations I think many students have, that is, the expectation that peer mentors are just as knowledgeable on course material as the professor. This expectation made me more self-conscious in how I helped the student, as I felt there was more at stake with my answer. I didn’t want to disappoint the student with my answer, or make her more confused instead of providing…

I always imagined that a lot of work must go into developing interview questions, but I never realized that while formulating your questions you start to think about possible responses. For me this is useful for interviews because even though I am the interviewee there are some points that an interviewer wants you to touch on. This assignment also helped to remember that an interviewer is just as nervous about asking questions and that an interview is more comfortable if the parties involved are smiling and have positive body…

I then ended up reading directly off my paper, which wasn’t what I wanted to accomplish. With my next speech I learned from the collab session and text that it was a lot more beneficial to create an outline. From creating an outline I felt more prepared to do the speech. Once, I did my second speech I really wasn’t as scatter brained as the previous one and was able to go through each point with ease thanks to the outline. The outline also made it easier to set up my points in the order necessary for the speech.…

What I learned from those teachers is that I need to be organized and try my best to accommodate to those student’s needs so these students could feel like they’re getting same the education opportunities as the other students. I had a few misconceptions prior to observing this inclusion class, and one was that the students who were gifted and talented or gifted and disabled would not be challenged. The few good teachers I had observed proved my misconceptions wrong. I also thought I was going to see a lot of bullying towards the inclusion students, but all the students seemed to get along just fine. I learned a lot from this experience and I am glad that I have a better idea of what an inclusion classroom is and what to expect when I become a…

Overall, I received fair feedback. Although I was able to hit most of the skills from each category there were a few that I missed from each. During the actual practice I was very focused on not messing up and hitting the key points. However, once I was finished and recapping over the session I realized both strengths I have developed and challenges I still need to work on. This experience showed me what I have have learned thus far in class and also what I still have to learn.…

Reflective Report This grant writing class has been intense, but I have learned a lot through the process. My favorite part of this class was reviewing the other proposals and reflecting on how each group completed the sections. The first thing I noticed while reading others proposal was how important it is to establish a buy-in for the reader. The proposals that didn’t have a buy-in I wasn’t interested in reading. During the review process when I did read a proposal with a good buy-in I automatically felt intrigued to read it because I wanted to know what the outcome would be in providing the grant money.…
