The Safety Inspection Report may require corrections which the superintendent must ensure are rectified. If recommendations require retraining, the employee will be removed from that particular task and are assigned to a more suitable role until the training is completed. 5. Toolbox Talks are conducted on every jobsite by the superintendent and/or SSHO at the start of each week to further sharpen safety knowledge and compliance of site personnel. The purpose of these meetings is to cover the more universal topics that affect everyone on site such as fire safety, proper lifting, PPE use, electrical hazard identification, fall protection, tool safety, excavation/trench safety and safe equipment operation to name a few. These meetings are mandatory, all workers and subcontractors are required to participate. Afterwards, a short quiz is administered by the superintendent to test the level of the attendees’ attention and comprehension. The signed roster and quiz results are forwarded (subcontractors are required to attend), and the QC/Safety Manager sends them to the PM for review and the corporate office for inclusion in the Project file records. Every employee has the responsibility and authority to stop work if they discover an unsafe condition. Employees will never be reprimanded for stopping work in the interest of safety.…
