I am Mamawa Konuwa, the manager of Payton MacDonald and Tom Hammes, performers of North Indian music. I’m writing to you in the hopes that you incorporate this unique act in the next 2015 UW Madison World Music Festival. I am aware that this nationally renowned festival is full of musically talented people from all different genres, performances and backgrounds and I am thoroughly convinced that t my North Indian Musical act will bring even more of a diverse crowd of individuals. The ensemble duo consists of artists, Payton MacDonald, who plays marimba and North Indian dhrupad vocals and Todd Hammes, who plays the tabla. The group performs North Indian marimba music pieces that are composed by Payton MacDonald. When it comes to variety, the duo has multiple pieces they can choose from to play. However, they usually play seven pieces at their performances. Two of the seven pieces are improvisations where they play un-rehearsed pieces to gain the audience’s attention. The other 5 pieces are compositions by MacDonald which include pieces such as “Four places of prophecy in the fire ritual,” “Hazel”, “Orange”, and “Vignette.” The instruments the performers used were the tabla, looping machines, and delay pedals, which cause their music to have the effect of X on the audience. The music genre the artists perform is classical music from North India. This North Indian System of Music is known as Hindustani Sangheet which ranges from Bangladesh all the way to Afghanistan. The current…

Taking the clean air for granted, I did not feel the beauty of the wind blowing and interweaving through…
