    pit bulls is no doubt too high, but the breed is not entirely to blame. These dogs were bred for fighting dogs, meaning being mean was their soul purpose. But, pit bulls are not genetically mean or more likely to attack. A pit bull’s attitude depends on the way it was raised and treated all its life. Many pit bulls have been used as therapy and rescue dogs, proving they can be trusted with the lives of others (“The Christian Science Monitor”). The way this breed will act is the way the owner wants them to, meaning it is not the dog's fault. All dogs, in every breed, have the potential of being mean. Some owners claim that other breeds are just as, or if not, more dangerous than pit bulls. One lady owns a toy poodle and pit bull, but will tell people to be cautious of the poodle because she will bite you. (“Current Events”) So just because many have reported bad things on one certain breed does not make each of them vicious. Every breed, no matter the size, will have a few mean dogs, but that should not label them all as the same. Dogs are grouped by the type of people who own them, just like people are grouped. The term race has been linked to dogs before it was ever linked to humans. Meaning, if lower class people owned certain types of dogs they were to stay away from the higher class dogs in fear of them breeding (“The Christian Science Monitor”).
