My clinical instructor, who happened to be a black woman, constantly came crying to me because she felt that the director and other nurses were rude to her and always finding faults with whatever she did. She felt that the problem was because she was a black person in a position where most whites thought they belong. I couldn’t help but to agree with her; I understood her pains. Never once did I think of her as being a weak person like someone of a different race may have been inclined to think because being a black person myself, I can relate to her. Unfortunately the discrimination that existed centuries ago still exists till this day. Blacks find that they constantly have to defend themselves from society’s unjust treatment.
