We all are searching for truth, for what is true. Paul Bloom summed up our lives into this quote, “We are constituted so that simple acts of kindness, such as giving to charity or expressing gratitude, have a positive effect on our long-term moods. The key to the happy life, it seems, is the good life: a life with sustained relationships, challenging work, and connections to community.” Bloom mentions the good life, which urges the questions of what is the good life and how does one achieve it. In order to have this good life, one needs to be close to God. God is true, therefore all that he creates is true—art, beauty, nature. The key to the good life is through truth, happiness, and compassion, and they all lead back to God. The good life is about seeking truth and discovering what is true. The good life is about finding happiness through God and external things. It is about not allowing yourself to be consumed with temporal things. A good life is finding happiness and sharing it with the community. In order to live a good life, one should live through God and enjoy all of his creations—expose oneself to nature and all things beautiful. The good life is about finding the deeper meaning of life through God and his beautiful creations. Chris McCandless, Saint Augustine, and Richard Shusterman all tackled the question of what is the good life and how does one attain it. They all focused on a different aspect of the good life and in the end, together, they form what I believe…

Rough - Shock is a strange feeling. I find it’s best described by colors and sounds, not dissimilar to the way most things are described. If your life were a painting, would it have vibrant, spectacular colors swishing and swirling across the entire canvas, or would it have light pastels, boxed and cut into stacked, organized sections? Assuming that you will change, as all people do, (though maybe not at the same pace) do you think you’ll be able to recognize your own hues in 30 years? What…

Thus, showing true valor is a difficult feat that few people can accomplish. In turn, the payoff can be great. But what is true courage, and how does it impact one’s life?
