By definition courage is the ability to do something that frightens another person. So what really is courage? Well courage to many people is the typical situation of a man running into a burning building to save another person. But courage comes in many shapes and sizes and is often overlooked as being nice. There are however forms of courage that are more important than others. For example there is intellectual courage, social courage, and moral courage. These forms of courage all play into people helping other people and are all important in there own way. The first type of courage is intellectual courage. Its not the most important but still plays a big role in the development of society. Intellectual courage is the courage to keep asking questions about a subject until it is understood. Social courage is the art of being oneself without caring about the criticism from others. This form of courage is what will make the world a better place, and will finally start to stop people from judging others so badly. It has more importance than intellectual courage in that it lets people be themselves without worry and can improve people’s confidence. Social courage also applies to going out of a persons comfort zone in order to meet new people. To some people going up to new people and talking with them is no big deal, and what those people dont realize is that they have a lot of social courage where as most people do not. One other example of social courage is public speaking. Public speaking is one of the hardest things for people in todays society for fear of being judged.
