positive opinion of their roommates, because they liked them before living with them, though we would have to further analyze this with people who have random roommates in order for this model to be sure. Also people who chose their roommates for another year generally had a neutral to positive opinion of the roommate to have them again. In essence, we found no relationship between roommate rating and perceived stress within the participants. Our original hypothesis of roommates playing a large role in a person’s perception of stress was not significantly supported by our data at all - rather, the data seemed to indicate no correlation whatsoever. While we did not find any direct and clear indications of the quality of roommates affecting a person’s stress, we did find that several factors could play into how a person might perceive and speak about their roommates that will be discussed further on in the analysis. When looking through the data, we suffered through a few challenges of parsing through the data. Often it was hard to distinguish what was caused by a spurious correlation, and what was an actual relationship between some of the data we gathered. It proved especially difficult with our small sample size. While we found some trends, overall most of our data ended up showing very little in terms of concrete results that can be used to tell how much roommates actually played a role on stress. Since we found only a few things involving structural constraints as a causal…

Throughout the article Greenfeld makes the point that we need to be culturally literate to make it through a conversation, instead of expressing how a conversation should be an enjoyable experience. Greenfeld says that we try to “survive” the conversation, and with that thinking we are never going to make closer relationships. With this logic, we are going to “learn” events to simply make it through awkward small talk rather than make connections. We need to be able to make these connections and…

Is one style adequate to describe your relationships? Why or why not? I think that my main conflict pattern is withdrawl-pursuit because for both of my relationships I found that I am mainly at a Low Tendency / Low Withdrawal. Which wasn’t too surprising as I definitely do know myself and how I act in conflict, although it was interesting to see the exacts and how I may be able to work on how I handle conflict. I think for right now one style of adequate does describe my relationships pretty…

In fact, our generation has suffered in the relationship department mostly due to our vast access to various modes of social media that seem to encourage overthinking – or over-investigating – such as Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram.
