positive opinion of their roommates, because they liked them before living with them, though we would have to further analyze this with people who have random roommates in order for this model to be sure. Also people who chose their roommates for another year generally had a neutral to positive opinion of the roommate to have them again. In essence, we found no relationship between roommate rating and perceived stress within the participants. Our original hypothesis of roommates playing a large role in a person’s perception of stress was not significantly supported by our data at all - rather, the data seemed to indicate no correlation whatsoever. While we did not find any direct and clear indications of the quality of roommates affecting a person’s stress, we did find that several factors could play into how a person might perceive and speak about their roommates that will be discussed further on in the analysis. When looking through the data, we suffered through a few challenges of parsing through the data. Often it was hard to distinguish what was caused by a spurious correlation, and what was an actual relationship between some of the data we gathered. It proved especially difficult with our small sample size. While we found some trends, overall most of our data ended up showing very little in terms of concrete results that can be used to tell how much roommates actually played a role on stress. Since we found only a few things involving structural constraints as a causal…
"(...) Daisy, who was sitting frightened but graceful, on the edge of a stiff chair." Then there is Gatsby, who is so conscious of his appearance, that he almost knocks over the clock. Again the reader is presented with evidence of nervousness and awkwardness, as it is very common behaviour to be rather clumsy when one is unsure of ones self, due to the presence of a person one is attracted to. After this small incident Gatsby also…
Depression and Insecurity in Interpreter of Maladies All relationships and marriages run into problems at one point or another. In Jhumpa Lahiri’s collection of short stories Interpreter of Maladies she wrote about the various problems that come about in different relationships. There is no denying the fact that depression and insecurity are significant personal problems portrayed through the characters Jhumpa Lahiri created. A problem in some relationships is depression. In her article…
In summary, the article is about educating teenage kids, sons and daughters, about sex, relationships, and safety. When a daughter is asked out by a boy for dinner, the parents get concerned about the relationship and get overprotective, taking extreme measures to ensure their child doesn’t do harm or offense towards their own child and their families. “Here’s the thing -- thoughts are not equal to actions ... Rationalizing that young men have overwhelming urges that cloud their judgment and…
Throughout the article Greenfeld makes the point that we need to be culturally literate to make it through a conversation, instead of expressing how a conversation should be an enjoyable experience. Greenfeld says that we try to “survive” the conversation, and with that thinking we are never going to make closer relationships. With this logic, we are going to “learn” events to simply make it through awkward small talk rather than make connections. We need to be able to make these connections and…
We are here to talk about James Kofi Annan. I am going to describe James when he was a child slave and what he does now. James Kofi Annan was a child slave but was able to escape slavery and now he works to fight against child slavery. James had a horrible childhood as a child slave. “James’s father had sold James top the fisherman, James was now a child slave” James now works for the fisherman's but he has to work for free. Another reason his childhood was terrible as a child slave is…
As mentioned previously, it has been noted that displaying your relationship status on your Facebook profile can add problems to a relationship. Couples feel that once they have made that public declaration to their friends and family that shows as their mutual commitment to the relationship. Friends and family tend to get involved at the point, being concerned with meeting the significant other, wanting to get to know that person, so on and so forth, that the stress of actually being in a…

Is one style adequate to describe your relationships? Why or why not? I think that my main conflict pattern is withdrawl-pursuit because for both of my relationships I found that I am mainly at a Low Tendency / Low Withdrawal. Which wasn’t too surprising as I definitely do know myself and how I act in conflict, although it was interesting to see the exacts and how I may be able to work on how I handle conflict. I think for right now one style of adequate does describe my relationships pretty…
would be relationships. Especially in today’s generation, I have witnessed countless relationships suffer due to doubts by either one partner or both. These doubts were nonetheless brought on by overthinking. In fact, our generation has suffered in the relationship department mostly due to our vast access to various modes of social media that seem to encourage overthinking – or over-investigating – such as Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram. As the Pew Research Center states, in 2014,…
