Over thinking makes it almost impossible to get certain tasks done. It can take the most straightforward of tasks and turn them into a complex jig-saw puzzle so much so that even a simple report such as this one can become a tangled web of frustration, anger and anxiety. I can’t even begin to recall how many times I changed my mind on what word I was going to define; overthinking goes hand in hand with being indecisive. Naturally, my hyperactive mind tried to juggle multiple words at once all while thinking way too in depth about their definitions. Over-analyzers tend to take what was meant to be a simple task and weave it into a tedious process. By doing so, it makes it very challenging to make any progress. My situation is indicative of a recent study performed by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania, which suggests that a hyperactive mind can hinder [one’s] ability to perform simple tasks (Gregoire). Therefore, being an over-analyzer can make it a struggle to be productive as it stops one in their tracks quite often.
Overall, there are really only two beneficial aspects of being an over-analyzer. For one, it certainly shows in one’s work ethic, since over-analyzers are so thorough with everything there’s generally “no stone left unturned” per say. Therefore, there’s no need to explain ourselves as every detail has already been discussed. Secondly, over-analyzers know when to leave unideal situations. In conclusion (finally this mind has reached a conclusion), over analyzing is as awful and debilitating as it is helpful to one’s productivity and
