The way a consumer would trace their decision making process if they were to go on a diet is exactly how the book describes it. The first step they would go through is the need recognition stage. They would need to decide if it is a functional need or a psychological need. For a diet plan, the psychological need would be a best fit because you don 't need to be paying for these services but it would be helpful to have the diet service. The next step is the information search which allows the consumer to find out what they need or want from the product or service. They can research online, ask friends and family, and look at reviews. For the diet service I would conduct an external search for information because it would allow me to find out the needed information that I need. The third step is to do an evaluation of alternatives. This is the time when the consumer is able to sit down and evaluate all of the different options that each diet service offers. They can figure out the pros and cons to all of the three services. After the consumer narrowed down their options to just one brand, they can purchase what they need to be successful in that plan. The final step is the post purchase which allows the consumer to evaluate how the product worked for their lifestyle. They can then figure out if they want to keep continuing on their diet plan or switch to a different company or plan. Companies need to create value for their brands because if they don’t then no one will want to…
