Serving in a restaurant, or any type of food chain isn’t easy. Some people know what it’s like, many others don’t. I want to explain to you the ways to becoming a good ‘sever’, in other words, so you know what it’s like. This will also be helpful to anyone who wants to know how to become a good server. If you are a one yourself, you know the in’s and out’s of it all. You also know that the only money we make it from our tips, so you better do the best job you can. That is what i’m here for.
To start off, when you get to your job that you are working at you should have a section in which theres however many tables you have that night. Those are YOUR tables. This is usually when they begin to finish up. Take away any empty plates or empty cups out of their way. Kindly ask if they would like any dessert and offer one. Almost the same as the appetizer, depending on if they want it or not will determine your next move. If they say yes, write down what they want and send it through the computer. If they say no, drop the check and let them know you will gladly take it whenever they 're ready, no rush. (if they got a dessert continue this step once you drop it off.) In a few minutes, go back and see if they 're ready to pay. Some people pay cash and just leave, others might pay with credit card which you then take to the computer and swipe. It will print out a piece of paper that the customer will have to sign. Then end with a “Thank you, have a nice night!” To conclude, serving is not an easy job.
