My Ideal Job I see myself as Pastry Sous Chef for an establishment in Las Vegas within the next five years. My ideal job would be a position which allows me to provide for myself and live comfortably, where I fit in with the company environment, and which will help me grow and gain experience for the future. I want to work in Las Vegas, Nevada because I want to live near my family at this point in my life. Additionally, my ideal job would need to meet at least some, if not most, of my job criteria regarding pay, benefits, and environment. For me, an ideal pay rate, at this point is one in which I can pay all of my bills comfortably with some left over for savings. By my estimation, this means I need to aim for a job that pays around $12.00 an hour as a starting wage. I would prefer a job which includes tangible benefits such as medical, dental, and a 401k. I would also like a job with intangible benefits such as opportunity for growth, shared values, and an enjoyable work environment. As far as job duties go, I would like to work for a company that would allow me to bake breads, plate desserts, produce pastry products, potentially plan new menu items, and perfect techniques I have already learned. A job that would enable me to do this would probably be labeled as Pastry Cook, which is fine for a starting job; however, I would hope that by year five I would be able to be in a position such as Pastry Sous Chef. The type of employer that would fit these preliminary requirements…

I waited with my cellphone in hand as one, two, three rings, and finally…“Hey Lily!” a familiar voice greeted, his tone friendly and confident as always. In the background, one could hear the quiet rumble of his car as he made his way from work, back home to his family. I couldn’t help but smile as I responded back. I was excited to be talking with a close family friend again, and he was one who always kept the conversation intellectual, yet stimulating. Every time we talked, his discussions…

There are many categories of stereotypes. There are those that society embraces and facilitates, those that are formed by groups of people with regard to themselves and others, and finally there are your own personal stereotypes that you apply to people in any given situation. They can, in some circumstances, be positive but for the most part they are negative thus giving the wrong impression of who people are and how they truly act. I think on a whole, most people know that it is wrong to use…
