This is a second counseling session that I have with my client. In this session I am doing a follow-up with his current problems. Client had reported that the issues that he had is getting a little better than before. Even though, this is the second time I had meet with my client. Before starting the counseling session, I had to informs my client regarding the inform consent. Everything that is said during the session will remain in this room and nothing will leave this room less otherwise. I am a mandated reporter if there is an adult abuse or child abuse I have to make a report according to the law. Although, this is the second time we had meet I have to starts with the interview by using the five stages and dimension of the interviews with my client. This time I would like to have an empathic relationship with my client, and try to gather more information and story behind his problems. During the process I have to find my client strength and be empathic with his concern. The second interview with my client had me realized that I need to have a more realistic goals for my client that would work him. Which means that we need to explore options and strategies that would…
Based on my beliefs, values, and experiences, I think the most important thing a counselor does during a professional counseling session is to be trustworthy. The first thing counselors should have their clients do it fill out and sign a confidentially form before a client begin their sessions. Counselors need to form a trusting bond with their clients. Having your clients fill out an agreement form shows them that you are a professional and care about their thoughts and feelings. It is…
Counselor travelled to the Home to meet with the Client for a scheduled counseling session and Treatment Team Meeting. Upon arrival the Client expressed that he was no longer interested in counseling services with the Oaks and that, “Everything is already. Mr. Odoh comes by to see me and I am at home. I plan to be at the next community service event, I am good. The only reason why I agreed to do counseling is because the court ordered me to, but I really don’t need it.” Counselor explained…
Having carried out a number of counseling sessions in the course of this class, by now I was feeling confident and prepared than I was in my first counseling session. I could feel even before the session began, that the experience and skills I have attained so far were crucial for my session. The purpose of my second counseling session was to dig deeper into the problems that my client came in for. I have decided to use the same client that I used for my first counseling session, Ted, who was…
The first meeting/recording of my counseling session was extremely nerve wracking, because I had many personal concerns going into the session. Some of the anxiety stemmed from not ever having to perform a one on one counseling session for 45 minutes and lots of “what if’s”. What if my client couldn’t talk for 45 minutes? What if I run out of things to talk about? What if I don’t know how to respond? Going into the counseling session I was my hardest critic, I wanted everything to go…
What stood out to me during the first group counseling session was Dennis reaction to Veronica’s resilience story of being a single parent and her relationship with her partner. Dennis’ reaction to Veronica’s story made me want to contribute if I were a participant in the group counseling session, as I have gone through a similar situation. After hearing both stories it was fascinating to see the benefits of the group counseling session as both participants were able to empathizes with one…
& Williams, 2009, p.163); so, spirituality as a whole is both a personal and social experience. Thus, applied to counseling, spirituality is a vital aspect in the therapeutic process; to the extent that, according to Shumway and Waldo (2012), approximately 65% of Americans belong a church and, as such, this percentage of religious Americans claim a preference in working with therapists…
Going into my second recorded counseling session I knew that my client was dealing with some obstacles from the week that really challenged her self-control. I was evident that she was angry and upset going into the counseling session, about an issue she had earlier in the week brought on by another student who threw food on her and made inappropriate and disrespectful remarks about my client and her family. J.L.E. expressed her anger and frustration for the situation, and instead of regressing…
first individual counseling session in order to develop a therapeutic alliance and trust. Counselor and Pt. discussed her progress in recovery, his medication compliance and side effects, any personal concern and/or problems. Pt. reported that she has been dealing with cravings. Pt. indicated that his current prescribed medication is working. Pt. is currently taking 70 mg of methadone and she wants to increase her dose to 70 mg because she feels that her prescribed med is wearing off late at…
counselor. With the skills and techniques that have been discussed and learned in this class, it applied in the practice session that I was a part of during this semester.
