Tibetan Buddhism

Tibetan Buddhism comes from India and became a major presences around the eight century CE. This religion is a religion that has been in exile and has been forced out of its homeland when Tibet was conquered by the Chinese government. Most people who think of Tibetan Buddhism automatically think of the Dalai Lama, but what most people do not know is that there is more than one Dalai Lama within this culture and that the lama plays more than one role in Buddhism. Tibetan Buddhism lamas are referred to as being a type of teacher and plays roles in religious rituals. Without just the lama there is two different types of lamas one being the well-known lama the Dalai Lama and then the not so famous lama the Karmapa Lama. The Dalai Lama comes from a Mongol word which meaning is ocean and refers to the depth of knowledge of each Dalai Lama. Buddhists heavily believed in reincarnation and that is why there have been fourteen Dalai Lamas, while the first two were not given the title until after their deaths.
