like Google and other sites that a search engine can reach, but not Darknet. The locations remain hidden. Tor was originally designed by the Naval Research Lab to act as a secure network for government agencies. Tor has empowered activists to spread news, help domestic violence victims stay hidden from online stalkers, and Tor has allowed ordinary citizens to surf the Internet without advertising tracking them. The negative impact of Tor is that it’s the primary cover for criminals and hackers. Tor also presents an increasingly difficult problem for law enforcement to solve. Navigating Darknet is surprisingly easy and Tor also looks like any other browser. Instead of ending in a .com or .org Web address, Darknet sites end in .onion and are called onion sites. Black-market Darknet sites look a lot like any other retailer website, except there are categories for psychedelics. Pictures and descriptions of best sellers are visible to view. According to a study, by researchers completed in August, it is estimated that criminals earn $100 million a year by selling drugs and other contraband on hidden websites. The dealers use digital cash that doesn’t require a credit card or bank to process transactions (Kushner 52). Law enforcement has a difficult time busting the bad guys for one simple reason: The same tools that keep government agents and dissidents anonymous, keep criminals virtually invisible too (Kushner 53). The battle over the Darknet’s future could decide the fate of…

Growing up, one learns from experience, and boy, did I! From under-cooked chicken to overcooked cakes and cookies, I learned from my experiences. One memorable experience was the day I tried to make chicken. I was 10 years old and I had bought some chicken wings and BBQ sauce from the grocery store. I seasoned the chicken well with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, curry powder, and sage. I tossed the pieces around in the BBQ sauce mix and put them in the oven. On the internet, it said to…

The mock press release from The Onion satirizes how products are marketed to customers by hyperbolizing the advertisement along with the featured customers’ reaction to the product. “‘What makes MagnaSoles different from other insoles is the way it harnesses the power of magnetism to properly align the biomagnetic field around your foot.’” This statement seems like the advertisers are trying to ‘hype’ up the product, hyperbolizing it so that these MagnaSoles appear more than they actually are.…

If advertisements were compared to side by side, a pattern of techniques to promote the products would start to emerge. To begin with, the article addresses the overused…
