    Sense Of Place

different experience with the water and therefore have a negative connection to it, which would diminish the feeling of a sense of place. On a similar note, another example is from my hometown Hilton Head Island, SC. there had been much debate over whether or not to build a new bridge, specifically a flyover, coming into and going off of the island. One side of the argument is that it would increase tourism greatly and therefore profit. The other side of the argument is that the construction will destroy many trees and habitats in the Lowcountry area. This is turn will kill much of the wildlife. The charm of Hilton Head is that it is seemingly untouched or in a very natural state. If the town becomes more city like it loses some of it charm. The locals will lose their sense of place because what they loved about the island is now being destroyed. The island is also very calm, with the addition of more tourist the island most likely become dirty, polluted, and loose its charm. Considering that Hilton Head is mostly tourist-oriented, it is predicted that the flyover will be built, despite the damage that it will be doing. A suggestion is that the town could try to make the bridge look more natural by keeping some of the trees intact and helping out over the cold concrete. my hope is that the island will keep its untouched charm and that it will increase the tourism in a different way which is not as harmful to the environment or that infringes upon the town identity. Finally,…

Then, as I was walking with my head towards the sky, taking in my surroundings, I was abruptly stopped by a man, whom was slender and of Asian descent. He shoved a catalogue, that had listings of different counterfeit purses, into my hands and motioned…

I woke up one morning to receive a briefing on that day’s mission. The mission happens to be that we were going out for a mosque listening. Upon completion of the brief I went back to my rack, and I started doing my own planning. Going through everything in my head, what building do we take? What’s my specific job? Do we have our supplies? Am I going to make it back to base tonight? A few hours went by and the time had come to mount up in the gun trucks and go out for our mission. I jump in my…
