I cannot believe how many soldiers have come in from the battlefield. I think at this point it must be on the upwards of 5,000 soldiers with casualties. The battle of Antietam Creek sure is a bloody one. What a shame. My care to the wounded can only go so far. Amputation after amputation it only gets harder and harder to see the intense pain they go through. One soldier came in with a bullet wound above the elbow. He asked me, already knowing the answer, “What can you do to save it” All I could say was “I’ll try my hardest to keep you alive don’t worry about your arm” Once we got into surgery I instantly decided to begin to draw what was really going on for future reference for if I had to do a solo operation. With little to no disinfectant, infection was on the rise in each patient. I wonder when Clara is going to try and scavenge for more supplies. At the start she brought in four wagons filled with all sorts of supplies for the nurses and surgeons on site. But with each and every patient that number is getting lower and lower. I am so thankful for her. Without her I do not know what we would have been able to do. When she came I…
In the time of the 18th century one big problem was that there was there was no pre-packaged food like we have today. When you wanted to get your food would have to buy a bunch of different ingredients and take a couple of hours to make dinner or breakfast. But someone found a way to put an end to this problem, and his name was John Kellog. John Harvey Kellogg grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of a family of shopkeepers. When he was young he worked with James White, the principle…
Sayler’s Creek in central Virginia is a picturesque, unique American countryside. Well, it used to be anyways. Until April 6, 1965 when the beauty was corrupted by the horrors of war. The Battle at Sayler’s Creek was significant to the Civil War because it was one of the most merciless battles ever fought on US soil, it was one of the last battles before Lee’s surrender, and there were many misfortunes for both armies. The Battle at Sayler’s Creek was considered by many to be one of the…
Tyler Gochenour, Mason Worley, Andrew Fonseca Jr. 801 The Battle of Mine Creek The Battle of Mine Creek, also known as the battle of Osage, started on October 25, 1864 in Linn County, Kansas. This battle was one of many battles taken place in the American Civil War. The battle was started because the South did not want Abraham Lincoln to be elected to the presidency again. The South sent some soldiers to Kansas (which was a state that was part of the Union) to win a battle. Kansas was ready to…
We were headed for The Valley Forge Campground. A round trip hike of around six miles in and out. We had planned to stay over night and pack out on Sunday. We had a full group with us, besides ourselves, there was Ralph and his brother, Kevin, Jim Spencer and his son Tim, and Mark Cook. This is an excellent trail shaded by a forest canopy of oak, spruce, and alders. The trail switch backs down to and crosses several creeks which become the head waters of the West Fork of the San Gabriel River.…
population of the animals; as the animals grew scarce the Indians had to expand their historic hunting grounds. Escalating conflicts over hunting territories grew into war between Creeks and Choctaws in the 1760s. Native American warfare was nothing like the warfare of Eastern Europe. Garcilaso de la Vega described Indian warfare as consisting mainly of “ambushes and subtlety” and only rarely of pitched battles. Casualties were generally light. Occasionally, the Indians “went so far as to burn…

November 2, 2016, I, Deputy John Arnold, went to Canyon Road Baptist Church at 8550 South 49th West Avenue in Creek County, Oklahoma where Deputy Brandan Welsh was completing a stolen vehicle report.
