Clara was born at home in 2008. She has two older sisters, twelve-year-old Mae and fourteen-year-old Avery. She also has two cats named Alex and Jerry. Clara is a very happy and joyful girl. Once in a place called Elora, there was a girl named Bella. She was fifteen years old. She had two sisters named Tate and Fae. One Friday morning, when everybody was eating breakfast (except for Tate, who was finding her outfit for the third time), Fae whispered to Bella, “Tate is such a drama queen.” “Yeah,” whispered Bella. Tate walked down the stairs and ate some breakfast. After the bus came, all three girls went on the bus. Bella did not like the bus. After they came back from school, Bella and Fae went up to their rooms, and Tate went into the backyard. Bella and Fae saw Tate out the window. Tate got wiped up in a mini-tornado and disappeared. Fae and Bella did not tell anyone. They said that they were going for a walk, and then Bella found a hedge and Fae and Bella saw Tate standing very close to it, so Bella ran inside and said that she was going to her friend’s house for a sleepover. So than she ran back to the hedge and climbed over it and then she was in a maze. The maze took her a day to get out of. She came to a clearing. There was a pond. Tate was on the other side of it. Bella said, “Go around the pond.” And Tate said, “I can't go around it, because there is no around.” “Oh,” said Bella. Bella said, “How did you get through the maze so fast?” Tate said that she just…

Every man had gone through a different method of torture. One bloody man is strapped onto a chair with an eyeball hanging out of his skull. One man is strapped to a table with all his legs cut off. Another is shackled to the wall with his balls cut off. All of these men seem to have been left to die bleeding in one way or another. They must've been that close to dying because they didn't seem to react to the yelling further down and some of them were even twitching oddly. It wasn't until we were…

My connections examined the portrayal of alienation in mainstream society. I chose to use texts from a modern time period to help create more concrete conclusions about mainstream society. My texts were Education for Leisure by Carol Ann Duffy, Sad Joke on a Marae by Apirana Taylor, District 9 directed by Neill Blomkamp and Barton Fink directed by Joel Coen. I expected all of my texts to be able to reflect one another as they were all from a similar time period. In particular, I expected…
