Water Bottle Rockets are mainly used for educational purposes in schools. They are used to explore basic aerodynamics and physics. Water rockets demonstrate many different forces such as weight, thrust, lift, and drag. Basic parts of a common bottle rocket include a nose cone, fins, a base, and a launcher used to launch the rocket. Rocket propulsion started showing up in history around 400 B.C. when a Greek by the name of Archytas used steam to propel a model pigeon (About Water Rockets). The first “conventional” rocket was created during the Song Dynasty in China in the 13th century. Small amounts of gunpowder were attached to small sticks and set off, making the first “fireworks” (About Water Rockets). The first water bottle rocket was created in 1930 by Professor Jean LeBot in France. He used a champagne bottle partially filled with water and compressed air from a bicycle tire pump to launch the rocket (About Water Rockets).
