Why Central Lakes College?

Looking for a college that had a Video program was a long process that in the end only gave me a few Colleges. Out of those Colleges Central lakes college stood out to me. They had all of the newest equipment and when touring found that it had small class size which means to me more one on one with the instructors. After little debate with my parents Central Lakes College became where I started my college career.

Describe your education and career goals.

I’m planning to get my AA degree in Videography then transfer to Lake Superior College in Duluth. After I finish my College career I’ll be going into broadcast media, hopefully either with Fox news or CBS Eye Witness News. Being in the background of the studio is one of the best feelings, the person that makes everything run smoothly that is the person I want to be. To be that person I will have to work harder than everyone else to make it, but I’m willing to put in the time to reach my goal.

Describe your financial need and any special circumstances, hardships, or obstacles that you feel may warrant special consideration.

Why are you a deserving candidate for a scholarship?

After paying the tuition the scholarship will only be used for only necessary expenses. I’m good at saving money I don’t spend money on anything useless because I don’t know when I’m going to have an emergency. This way of think has made me miss some experiences that I regret missing, but I told myself I can have fun

Our Lady of the Lake College is a Catholic institution that was created in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, who firmly believed that all of creation spoke volumes of God’s love for us. St. Francis was raised in a fairly wealthy family, and it was not until he was captured at battle for two years, that he decided to embark on the glorious journey of knowing Jesus Christ. He began preaching to word of God, and embraced others that were not of his kind. Students who attend Our Lady of the Lake College should be of the same example to others throughout their academic careers. As Franciscans, We live by five core values that are service, reverence and love for all of life, joyfulness of spirit, humility, and justice.…

On the first day of my 4th period Pre-AP Social Science class, my teacher announced that she would be nominating 2 students for a scholarship based on their academic performance and service to the community. For an 8th grader, this seemed to be the most exciting opportunity I had ever heard of. It would allow some separation from my ultracompetitive classmates at one of the top middle schools in California. Even though history was not my forte, I devised a regimen that I would follow. I studied everyday afterschool, spent hours upon hours on projects, and never turned in an assignment without checking it over 3 times.…

My major is media production, so I have been around cameras pretty much all of my college career, and I absolutely love it! I was previously the video editor for the school newspaper "The Buchtelite" which is how I actually received an opportunity with this brand new student-based initiative. This initiative is called The EXL Center, which reaches out to students and has an incredible number of ways to encourage student success. It is very hands on and extremely fun, and I film sort of a "talk show" called EXL-ON. EXL-ON touches on a wide variety of numerous relevant subjects ranging from college life, diversity, and even politics.…

I’d be the student that tries to participate or join a lot of clubs. I’d be the student that likes to discuss their ideas or answers with the classrooms.…

The community college I currently attend has been helpful these past few years, However, I feel I have reached an ending point. There are not a lot of networking opportunities available to me, nor are there other beneficial classes for my goals. I feel I have used all the resources available there and wish to open myself for further growth. I want to be able to teach or offer support for others who struggle emotionally and academically in the world, and I feel I would be better able to surpass this with a higher education. Along with this, I feel the need to surround myself with different types of people who both share and are different from my views in a supportive and conducive environment.…

After embarking upon a “handicap” adventure, it is clear that Lycoming College is in fact handicap acceptable, with a few exceptions. Being able to take a walking tour of the campus opened my eyes to the harsh realities that disabled humans face every day. It is the simple tasks that one takes for granted such as, using the bathroom, water fountain, and stairs. Furthermore, being a handicapped student at Lycoming College is manageable, but would still be a struggle at times. Additionally, I was able to explore almost every building, making detailed observations of several rooms, floors, bathrooms, and pathways.…
