I believe that I should be awarded this Scholarship because I am a dedicated, hard-working student. I was inducted into National Honor Society because I met and exceeded the standards necessary to be accepted. I wish to further my education after high school and get a degree to aide in my future career. This scholarship will provide assistance in the financial burden of my education.…
In order to do this I need to go to at least four years of college, which at this point I cannot afford. Receiving this scholarship would greatly help in my strive for a better education. I believe I deserve to be the recipient of the scholarship because of my achievements in high school. I am top of my graduating…
I think I deserve this scholarship, because I could be a positive role model for others that have had a similar discouraging…
In twenty years, as a board member of a scholarship selection committee, I would award the 17-year-old me a scholarship not because I am simply answering the prompt in my favor, but because I know that the 17-year-old me's dream is to go to college to gain a higher education and has made learning a high priority since elementary school. The 17-year-old me is determined, hard-working, and understands the struggle of having little money, so I would know that the scholarship would not go to waste; she would use it so that her parents can ease their worry about how she is going to go to college, since they are not able to make any contributions. Knowing that her family earns little income, she has spent most of her high school years dedicating her time to her schoolwork, hoping that she would be qualified to earn scholarships during her senior year. During the other majority of her time, she has volunteered for over 300 hours at various locations and participating in school clubs and activities.…
I, Megan Fleming is capable of working hard and I always stay committed to achieve my goals. I plan on attending the University of Virginia at Wise to earn my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. I would also like to take the Pre-Law course to see if I would like to become a lawyer. Either field of study I am the absolute best at I will choose it as my long life career. I am very passionate and will continue to work hard…
I feel like I am a good candidate for this scholarship because, as a senior, any and all money earned and received will help me ease the burden of attending college. My goal throughout my whole childhood was to receive a full ride scholarship to the college of my dreams; however, as time has gone on and I have matured I have come to the realization that, that dream is not as achievable as I once believed it to be. I have worked hard, inside and outside of the classroom, making the grades and creating the resume that colleges are looking for, and in response I have been offered tuition waivers. Which ultimately means I am still responsible for paying for my books, room and board, part of the tuition cost, and mandatory fees.…
Driver’s Education Scholarship There are many reasons why I believe that I deserve the $200 Driver’s Education Scholarship. I had to pay for driver’s ed myself, and the money that was used to pay for it was not given to me. Drivers ed cost me $450, and this summer I had to work 45 hours to earn the money for drivers ed. I did yard work for two different people. One person that I did yard work for, during the summer I mulched their flower gardens, and I also have raked for them, and I did whatever they needed me to do outside.…
The Katherine Trewhitt Scholarship would impact my life by showing me my potential and helping me avoid debt. I see a massive part of transitioning from a child to an adult is learning to be independent. From my point of view, independence is found through hard work and responsibility. This gateway into adulthood is found when a student begins applying for colleges and scholarships. Applying for scholarships takes a considerable amount of time and effort, thus making it a challenge to see if through the years a student has learned to work hard and be responsible.…

Sarah Jessica Parker, an American actress, once said, "I developed a really strong work ethic, and I don't take anything for granted". I feel the same thing applies to me 100%. I tend to use my stress to fuel my drive to get things done, on time, and right. However, I am also human and know where I need assistance. From working hard at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC's) nursing program to serving my residents as a certified nurse's assistant at a retirement home, I feel I am an exceptional fit for the DMACC Foundation Scholarship.…
I believe that I deserve the “Courage to Grow” Scholarship, because I’m very determined and take my education seriously. Both during college and high school I faced a series of obstacles such as living at a women’s shelter at the age of sixteen, the death of my grandmother and cousin my freshman and sophomore year of college, and attending counseling for emotional abuse and a risk for developing an eating disorder. I overcame each obstacle despite the mental stress. There were rough patches with my grades at the beginning of college, but I worked hard each semester to raise my GPA, and make honor roll. I’m a fist generation college student, and earned my associates in arts from Longview Community College, and will attend the University of…
As the second oldest of four children, it was always a priority and expectation that I went to college. I am lucky enough to be more fortunate than others, but with 3 children all starting college in a span of four years my parents are not in a financial position to assist us. We were told that hard work and dedication would help us pay for college, and it has. However, there are always the costs you cannot plan for, such as a Chemistry laboratory fee or needing to pay a deposit on field trips for a general education course. The $500 award will help me pay for the different fees associated with being a student, and, especially in my sophomore year, will help pay for laboratory fees for my Biology and Organic Chemistry courses.…
Hi, my name is Hali Bishop and my love for learning and education has always been important since I was a little girl. The value of education is something that I have understood since a very young age. Neither of my parents had an opportunity to attend college, and both faced many struggles in their own personal and professional lives because of this. My parents made a commitment early in their life to do everything within their power to instill in their children a love of learning and an understanding of the importance of hard work and dedication so that one day their children could be as successful as they want to be and more. Growing up I’ve had a lot of obstacles come my way, but that seems to make me stronger as a human being.…
