With an increased amount of student’s campuses would not have enough parking or campus space to hold all the students they would be enrolling. Increasing the number of students would mean more faculty would have to be hired to ensure enough classes, security, and services could be offered to students. Increases in college tuition is due to, “Colleges competing for students, and the means of attracting top students–hiring the best professors, maintaining beautiful campuses, etcetera– costs money” (Renehan), which is believed that the higher quality of education they receive the higher their lifetime salary will be. On the contrary, “Schools with lower tuition do not have the revenue to hire top professors or to maintain modern learning technology” (Renehan), which is believed that one will receive a basic education and will not have a high paying job later in their lives. Nearly 40% of working-aged Americans hold a college degree. College tuition has been an ongoing discussion for many years now, while some might say this has no correlation to whether a student is going to complete their education or not, I think it plays a huge role. If free college tuition was an option it would greatly help those who cannot afford college, it’d help motivate students to actually want to go to college, and would help raise the overall IQ of citizens. While I do not believe that college tuition should be free, I say students should be able to pay for their entire year of college if they had a full-time job throughout the summer. This would require students to be committed to their education year around, but would allow for students to graduate with minimal or no debt. If a student could pay for an entire year’s tuition with a summer job, that would eliminate the need for almost all student loans. Some loans may be needed occasionally to cover in the case of unexpected costs or graduate tuition. I also believe that all college loans should be appointed by the government and unsubsidized until five years after graduation.…

As I mentioned before the average tuition for a in state four year college is $9,139 although to some people that may not sound like much, for others it means having to get student loans to try and help with causes some people having to try and pay it off even after they have graduated that college. But for people who would like to just go to an out-of-state college, Harvard for example the average tuition for that is $22,958. Without a scholarship or the money to afford this people can drop out. Further more why should in state colleges not be free at all? If they were spots that would go to the person that cares and would like to learn is given to those who do not even care and would rather not learn.…

Should College Be Free in America? Every year in America, thousands of new high school graduates pack their bags, move to new cities, and sign papers accepting loans they might not be able to pay back. Parents shovel out thousands to colleges, with the risk of their child neglecting the responsibility of study, and dropping their courses. Students who do not qualify for scholarships have to use up time that would allow them to study properly because they need to get part-time jobs in order to just stay in college. He is not looking at the bigger picture and is not trying to look into what can better the future.…

School is a necessary system worldwide to invest in a society 's future. The primary argument as to why educational institutions should be free in the U.S. is not to give everyone the equal opportunity to education as stated by Lawrence (a professor of History emeritus at SUNY Albany) although it is one of the reasons, the primary reason is to increase the number of educated workers to hopefully improve our economy. It is stated that an “educated work force has become an essential component of economic growth and competitiveness (Student Aid Alliance). However, college tuition filters out those who are not willing to pay for their education and also funds universities so that they are able to function and upgrade their facilities. College should not be free because it would lead to tax raises, the value of a degree would decline, and the overall quality of the educational environment would decrease.…
