State colleges who eliminate their tuition for students who live within the state wanting to attend college for a better future. Students will have little to no debt when graduating from college giving students the motivation to attend college. The government will still benefit from tuition free colleges, for students who wants to attend at private college will still have to pay for tuition. “The government already spends to subsidize the cost of college through grants, tax breaks, and work-study funds, which comes to about $69 billion. It spends another $107.4 billion on student loans. That means that with the money it already spends to make college affordable, the government could instead subsidize public college tuition, thereby making it free for all students” (Covert). Dropout rates for high school students would decrease, leading to more students having a superior future for themselves and families. Attending a tuition free public college helps students’ graduate debt free having a stress free life worrying about paying off thousands of dollars. More students are going to have the motivation to graduate from high school causing high schools’ dropout rate to decrease. As well as the older people aspired to attend college, pursuing the career of their dream. Public colleges having free tuition allows private colleges to reduce their tuition.
