Yes, being addicted to one’s phone is a real addiction today. Some may laugh at this, but research has discovered the scary truth about technology and its effect on the brain. According to, (??????) “Studies have shown that brain scans of young people with an internet addiction disorder (IAD) are similar to those of people with substance addictions to alcohol, cocaine, and cannabis” (??????). This is very alarming when one thinks of an addiction they may not even consider technology and let alone that it can have the same effect as other addictive substances. Not only is it like other common addictions it also has common effects on a person. For example, attention, decision making, and processing emotions are all effected through technology. Technology also has had an effect damaging eyesight and causing sleeping disorders in teens. Other than the fact the Technology is like a drug it can cause problems like depression, stress, and isolation. In one case a 30-year-old woman named Faigy Mayer committed suicide. She was the CEO of an app developer, it is said that the stress and isolation have taken control of many tech founders. Texting and driving have been a huge problem for many people including Loretta Stong who lives in Michigan. Stong was not able to communicate in the first couple of months of her year-long recovery. Today Stong is paralyzed from the waist down. This car crash was caused by someone who was texting and driving.(???) Texting and driving has caused so many people to either be seriously injured or even others to die. According to (>???) “ In 2015 alone, 3,477 people were killed, and 391,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers. During daylight hours, approximately 660,000 drivers are using cell phones while driving” (???) This is absolutely frightening. There are no words to even describe the fear that one should have when getting into there car. This is something that most do not even consider when getting ready to drive somewhere. All it takes is a couple seconds of distractions and death could be knocking at someone’s door. This is a shocking realization, one may say that although this is a problem has it not been fixed? The answer is no it has not been fixed but improved with newer cars. When think of a brand-new car one may imagine how high tech this car must be. It is amazing how much cars have evolved throughout time. Although technology has been incorporated into cars it is still dangerous to use technology while driving.
