Do you know anyone that has ever been in a car accident due to distracted driving like texting? If so how did it affect their lives and the others around them? According to the National Safety Council there have been 1.6 million crashes in the year of 2015 due to texting and driving. The act is against state law, there is an increased chance of accidents happening, and it puts people’s lives in jeopardy.
As of this year there are 46 states that have a law against texting and driving. If there is a law against something you shouldn’t do it at all for your safety. This law was put in stone to save lives and keep the US highways safe. If you are driving and seen by a police officer you will be pulled over and given a ticket. Keeping your phone to the side and not worrying about it can save you money and even regret of hurting someone.

When you are driving it takes 100% of your attention. If you are constantly looking down at your phone you aren’t paying attention to the road. It only takes one second for someone to break or swerve off on to your side of the road. If you aren’t fully paying attention you might not see that and damage your car or injure yourself badly.
There are so many stories of people being seriously hurt and even killed due to texting and driving. People are always on the sides of roads walking from and to work, school, and restaurants. If you are texting or on social media you could veer off the road and hurt them badly. Think of the guilt you would have of taking someone’s life due to one single text.
