Summary Of Patricia Smith's Article Driven To Distraction

In the article Driven To Distraction by Patricia Smith it shows that people are texting and driving and it’s causing them to get into car crashes because of them texting while driving. This is a huge problem because many deaths are being caused each year by these young teenagers (mostly) texting while driving. They can wait to text their friends or parent even if it’s an emergency. Even then you can call them and put it on speaker. The federal government has been trying to stop this for many years but the problems are only getting worse. Another way to look at it is say the person’s mom or dad is dying from a disease and has little time before death. Then there would be some sort of exception. You could text your mom, dad, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, and cousin for information because it’s your parent dying and you only have one of them. The federal government wants more phones to include a “driver mode” that would block features that create distractions for drivers. Like I said in my claim the federal government has been trying to stop texting while driving. So the federal government wants another way …show more content…
In my claim I said that distracted driving is trying to be taken away by the federal government. If we only look back 40-50 years drunk driving had the same problems as we see today with distracted driving.
