As we grow older and older, technology seems to be taking a toll in our daily lives. Everywhere we go, we see people glued on to their cell phones, ipads and laptops. Many of us can agree with the fact that at the dinner table everyone is on some type of electronic device. Everyone seems to be more interested in checking emails, taking phone calls and even playing games on their phone. Technology has everyone stuck on their phones instead of carrying on a conversation with each other about their day. It seems as if everyone is in thier own little world. In the article “Attached to Technology and Paying a Price ”, Matt Ritchel argues that technology has become a big part of society, and it’s impacting not only ourselves, but our families and …show more content…
It causes damage to our brain, and it can often destory a person and/or a family. The use of technology has became a problem recently. People are so additicted that it is hard for them to keep their hands off of it. There has been high numbers of deaths due to texting and driving. Students in class are distracted more than ever from their lecture due to the development of new and improved technology. It’s a problem that is hard to provide a soultion to because it seems like schools encourage the usage of technology, which is not bad, but it does become a problem when the students are distracted by playing games, texting and looking up things that don’t pertain to the material that is being taught. Technology is not always a bad thing, it can be used for good as well. It all depends on how you use technology, how much time you spend on it, and how benefical it is to your …show more content…
I agree with Ritchel, he provides a sufficant amount of evidence to back up his arguement. He provides proof of how technology takes a toll on our personal and business lives. Although technology has it’s bad side effects, it also has it’s good. It just depends on how we use the technology in our lives. Spending twelve hours on a electronic devices is just not a good idea. Technology affects us and everybody around us and we should think about that next time we decide to spend three hours playing a video game. We cannot do anything about how quickly and how advanced tecnology is becoming, but we can control ourselves and benefit ourselves through using technology in a postitive and effective way. We should cherish and focus on things that matter the most. Technology will always be here, but other things may not. It seems that we, as people, may have lost ourselves in technology, we can always make a change that is going to help us become who we want to be. We should relax and lay off the technology, and engage in real life conversations that are intellectual. We should focus on enjoying the real world, instead of being enslaved in

A professor from Stanford University, Clifford Nass, stated, "Kids have to learn about emotion, and the way they do that, really, is by paying attention to other people. They have to really look them in the eye. " Most kids these days don't even communicate face-to-face. Texting has become the main form of communication, so when kids get home, how can they look at each other in the eye if they just text? Another study has shown that children's social skills are affected negatively when they multitask with technology.…

When a novel or movie is classed as being fictional, it is automatically assumed that the content inside is not related to our society today even if it is set in places or times different from our own. In the fictional novel Fahrenheit 451, the author Ray Bradbury is able to display ideas and problems that occur in our everyday lives even though it was written during the 1950’s. Bradbury is able to show the impact of technology on a society which includes the advantages that it has on that society but he is also able to show the major disadvantages that may occur from technology. In Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury conveys the idea of society discouraging individuality which causes the people of that society to have no creativity or independent thought.…

We as a society have become so dependent on our phones that without it we begin to feel lost and weak as if it’s a drug. Steve Cutt does a great job of depicting the true meaning of our society through these images or as he calls them the “sad truth“. The imagine that has caught my attention was the one that looked like the zombie apocalypse has taken over, except the zombies were actually us humans and our food supply are our phones (technology). My reaction to this image consisted of agreement and worry that we might actually be in big trouble if we continue to live a life where technology is our most important need rather than being happy with what we have. Instead we are becoming a consumer – driven society what always wants more of…

Currently, one of the biggest problems that society faces is the high rates of obesity. Obesity is simply defined as an abnormal state of health or an excessive accumulation of fat in the fatty tissues (adipose tissue) of the body, which can be a serious danger to health. The underlying cause is a positive energy balance, which results in weight gain, that is when the calories consumed exceed the calories that are spent. It affects a third of the world's population, reveals a study conducted by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (HME) of the University of Washington. United States has the largest number of obese adults in the world (79.4 million), more than China, and leads the rates of childhood and youth obesity with an alarming…
