Written under the genres of both Drama, Romance and Comedy, it manages to capture the essence of all three (mostly doing its best work between comedy and drama). Its wit and humor will make you laugh while its honesty, tragedy and sentimentality encourage reflection. The movie succeeds not only in content, but execution, pertaining specifically to the special effects artists who were able to place Forrest amidst many historical events and people in various footage.
