In Toy Story 2 directed by John Lasseter, Lasseter uses different ways of communicating sound and animated images to achieve the coherent story that he developed in this movie. Since the movie is animated it relies heavily on dialogue of the characters to develop a story that can easily be followed. And example of this is that the toys only come to live when no humans around to see them interact. And the plot revolves around the way these toys interact with each other. For one, through dialogue the audience is able to dissect the underlying issue of Andy growing up, especially through Woody. As the film continues we see how Andy growing up effects the toys and how this one issue drives the plot. One instance, is when Woody finds out who he really is and is infatuated with this revelation. Because of this he is pressured into…
What makes a family “family,” is depended on the sacrifices you’re willing to make, even if it means death. As cheesy as it sounds, this is what I perceived the message to be in The Godfather: Part II by Francis Ford Coppola, but in the Cinema, the main protagonist Michael Corleone loses what matters the most to him, Family. You get to see him and his household collapse due to his obsession of the family business and you get to view this through great angles this flick has produced. The sequel…
Logos is one of the three basic rhetorical appeals. Logos refers to logic Ethos to the credibility of the author, and Pathos to the emotion of the audience. She refrains from Ethos since she has as she said in lines 2-3“except that of the weakest on the strongest” and in lines 4-5 “and as named itself little among English poets is unknown to your Majesty”. Thus she can not use Ethos, and Pathos would not fit into the context of the letter. The reason being that she said in lines 20-22 of her…
This week students were asked to conduct a 2 -part assignment which consisted of interviewing a volunteer family member to role play a vignette of one’s choice and to write a one page paper about the result attained from the Audit or Dash questionnaire. I chose to use the Audit questionnaire because it was more thorough and allows one to receive more information about the individual’s current state. My individual scored a 3 on the Audit assessment. Being that she scored a 3 indicates she is at…
Toy Story 2 deals with the crises of ‘trust versus mistrust’, primarily occurring between birth and one year of age, and is considered to be the most fundamental stage (Cherry, 2016). At the half-way point of the film, Stinky Pete implies that “[Jessie’s] been through more than you know” relating to Jessie’s life which has caused her to become suddenly distant, emotional and distraught. Before the commencement of the film, the viewer is informed that Jessie was given away and abandoned by her…
called 2-part tariff which capture all or most of the consumer surplus, in a monopolistic market. Consumer surplus is the difference between the consumer willingness to pay for a good, compared to the total amount the consumer actually pay. Furthermore, firms have to adjust their 2-part tariff pricing according to the type of consumer demand present in the market. A 2-part tariff is a second-degree price discrimination technique which consist of charging consumers with 2 fees, an entry fee for…

Of the Academical or Skeptical Philosophy: End of Part 2 Hume starts off by stating that skeptical judgements to reasoning’s concerning matters of fact are strictly derived from the natural weakness of human understanding. This of course includes the contradictory opinions and our own changing judgements over the years. Because we constantly react to decisions reached from moment to moment, future experience and this particular species of argument is completely insufficient and not a reason for…
Documentaries are often used in academic settings to expand a student’s knowledge on a certain topic. Although some can be mundane and biased, others can be quite thought-provoking. Three documentaries that we have watched over the course of this summer class, are Treasures of Chinese Porcelain, The Story of Women and Art: Episode 2, and The Longest War: Women and Power – Part 2. I found each of these three documentaries to be equally captivating. Although each film discussed different…
