instructions simply by speaking, without necessarily writing code. Although nascent, this project gained wide acclaim throughout my college. After that, as the fulfillment of the college’s major project, I polished my previous independent project, The Moon Operating System, alias Crescent Operating System. I rewrote most parts, re-designed the Graphical User Interface and wrote drivers to support more devices. Finally, to reflect group effort, it was renamed to Gamma Operating System. My interest on Multimedia arose when I was working independently on a JPEG image decoder, rdJPEG for Gamma Operating System. I was experimenting on a High Pass Filter to extract edges of an image and then use successive images to create a perception of animation. This is when I began to foresee possibilities of manipulating a still image to create a 3D model. Having…

While reading Hito Steyerl’s In Defense of the Poor Image, I believe that Steyerl is arguing that even though a low quality/resolution image appears to the mass majority, we are still able to process what the image is. It might have lost its details, however, this is the easiest way for most to access the image, which is by receiving a low resolution jpeg online. Steyerl also states that the more we open and save the jpeg file from the web, the more it loses its quality, hence we get a lower…

Although I've been taking pictures with some of the best gear that money can buy for the past 7 years I've recently come to the conclusion that my gear was weighing me down. All of which produce great images no matter what size the sensor they housed. It's funny that owning and using the best fanciest gear has brought me full circle back to the iPhone,…
