My determination to pursue a career in Computer Science sprang from the embarrassment I faced when I was in third grade. I became the subject of mockery after I pushed the power button when asked to shut down the lab-computer. I felt as if every other student but me knew how to systematically shut down the computer. Mortified, I aimed to outclass everyone in my class and ultimately become eminent in a field relating to computers.

By reading every book I could find about computers, I propelled my knowledge much beyond the scope of our basic computer classes. I learned commands in MS-DOS and quickly became a proficient DOS user. I learned the C programming language and, by the time I was in sixth grade, I could already write sophisticated programs

One such possibility would be to harness Virtual Reality to create a Virtual Classroom experience, a prospective 3D interactive-classroom technology that shall give the realistic experience of being in an actual classroom, despite the participants being geographically separated. This technology may also be applied to business organization for Virtual Conference experience. Then again, there are challenges that I aspire to address beforehand. One obvious challenge is, how to create a realistic virtual environment that incorporates every human senses? Another challenge is, how to make the interaction between a user and the virtual environment more natural? Clearly, the concentration you provide and your research areas parallels my interests, a perfect motive to select your university. In addition, the access to several research centers such as Partnership for Research in Spatial Modelling will provide indispensable resources to put my knowledge into action. I’m certain that I posses the expertise along with a solid engineering background, perseverance, and flair to meet the demands of the concentration I’m looking forward to. To work under the supervision of the esteemed professors of your university such as Dr. Garth Paine, Loren Olson and David Tinapple for research would be an answered prayer for me. If given an opportunity, I vow to bring forward the name of this already distinguished institution, through my active involvement in existing and new research.
